Add some colours to spruce up your living space! ❤
Built in 1859 by Christian Wiehe for his family while managing his sugar cane plantation and sugar factory, this chateau emulates French-style country living with elements more suited to the tropics. It is typically Victorian, although instead of cement and concrete, teak is mainly used and the chateau is elevated to avoid flooding. French windows open up to the wraparound veranda for maximum ventilation. The whole estate elicits all types of Gone With The Wind vibes, taking you back circa 19th century Deep South, where sugar barons made their wealth. The flanking banyans provide a cool interlocking canopy of shade and acts as a privacy screen. I drove past its gates and could not even tell that there was a chateau right by me.
