favorite for fall week: Sticking leaves on our sticky window fall tree!
We LOVE sticky window activities around here (especially when I am trying to get lunch or dinner ready!)
I started with a large sheet of contact paper and drew a tree with permanent marker on the non-sticky side. Then I taped it to the window sticky side out and gave Aubrey foam leaf shapes to stick and pull off of the tree. You could also use silk leaves or laminated shapes and make leaf for even more pretend play fun.

CHEESUS CRUST🍕! This girl can eat! She’s extremely well at eating a lot of food then complaining she’s still hungry 🤦🏻♀️. If anyone dares to ask for some you will hear her wrath! Nevaeh’s mentality: There’s no “WE” in food so get away from “ME!” 🙄
Under escort from the U.S. Army’s 101st Airborne Division, nine black students enter all-white Central High School in Little Rock, Arkansas. Three weeks earlier, Arkansas Governor Orval Faubus had surrounded the school with National Guard troops to prevent its federal court-ordered racial integration. After a tense standoff, President Dwight D. Eisenhower federalized the Arkansas National Guard and sent 1,000 army paratroopers to Little Rock to enforce the court order.
On September 25, the Little Rock Nine entered the school under heavily armed guard.
Troops remained at Central High School throughout the school year, but still the black students were subjected to verbal and physical assaults from a faction of white students. Melba Patillo, one of the nine, had acid thrown in her eyes, and Elizabeth Eckford was pushed down a flight of stairs. The three male students in the group were subjected to more conventional beatings. Minnijean Brown was suspended after dumping a bowl of chili over the head of a taunting white student. She was later suspended for the rest of the year after continuing to fight back. The other eight students consistently turned the other cheek.

Back when I lived in Atlanta I opened and taught at a local Reggio Emilia school where I learned a ton from talented professionals. The methodology was created and used in Reggio Emilia Italy after WWII. Psychologist Loris Malaguzzi's philosophy is among one of my favorites because of its student-centered, self-directed, and its experiential learning components. 🇮🇹 Materials used in the classroom are recycled and presented (provocations) in a way so the child can explore and develop their own activity through observations and experience. 📚
Carlito's room is the darkest in the house and is not very inviting for play so I created a mobile out of things I had around the house and bought 2 spot light reading lamps from IKEA (one works just fine). You don't need to buy all those fancy baby toys. LESS IS MORE BECAUSE IT MAKES THEM EXPLORE 🍍

What decade are you learning about today?
Dapper Day is all about classic fun in a modern twist of yesteryears from the 1920’s to 1970’s. .
Emmett chose the 1960’s and read all about Martin Luther King, Jr. and the Civil Rights Movement.
Unifix Cubes are a staple in our classroom. Counting and patterning and colors and one-to-one practice all at once!
The handle broke off my #morningtime
basket which I took as an opportunity to cram it extra full. It ain't pretty folks. #reallifehomeschool #itsamess #thisismykitchen #allthetime
I read Cindy Rollins' blog several years ago. I remember making lists and putting books on Amazon wish lists, but mostly I remember falling head over heels in love with the idea of morning time. And still to this day, it is what keeps me homeschooling, what I would feel the most loss over giving up.
And the crazy part is . . . It is so simple. It's a basket of books, a kitchen table and us . . . reading, talking, laughing, memorizing, thinking.
Today we opened up 100 Great Poems and read O Captain! My Captain! by Whitman. My oldest narrated it full of boyish glee at a shipwreck. Then I told them the dates of Whitman's life and that he was writing about a person and moment from U.S. history. I said, "this time chase the meaning" and read it again. Before I finished my sons were pounding the table, exclaiming "Abraham Lincoln!!!!!" After a morning of plumbing problems and bad attitudes, it was a sweet moment ☺ Sometimes I'm afraid Instagram might give the impression that homeschooling needs to be all done in a series of beautifully arranged flatlays, artfully designed (which by the way I adore, please keep posting them). But I promise you . . . beautiful learning moments can also happen around a crumby, sticky table with a book pulled out of an old, thrift store basket.
And now I should probably go rescue those tortillas before they are smashed under the weight of ancient history.

Just a dad teaching his son about how he United States has ended up in so many wars....without a textbook. THIS is how he learns AND retains information.
We started homeschooling 6 years ago because....Well, so many reasons...
but last January, we added a new reason. This sweet kid was diagnosed with dyslexia. YES..he could go to school and probably do “fine”....as long as we fought for his rights & accommodations, etc.
I spent a LOT of time asking people who have walked this path in our town, who are educators in his school system & did a ton of research...and sadly, the schools just do not have the resources to give him the education he deserves. •
We aren’t the only family dealing with these issues, but we are the ones who will discuss it! •
For my son to get an OG tutor (hands on learning) I’d have to prove, beyond his evaluation, that he needs it 🤷🏻♀️. Parents spend YEARS fighting ... I’d rather spend that time educating him myself, paying for tutors, sending him to the summer program at the #hamiltonschool
and building his confidence that #dyslexia
doesn’t define him and will NOT hold him back. I wish special schools didn’t cost SO much or offered financial assistance but unfortunately, they don’t offer enough to help most of us ☹️ #changeisneeded

27 1/2 weeks pregnant in my 4th pregnancy vs. 25-28 weeks in my 1st. I’m shocked I’m not more huge at this point. I look pretty much the same. But there r some major differences! I’ve gained half the weight so far this time than I did the first time. I have waaaaay more energy, even though I am homeschooling three kids. I feel better, more motivated, no heartburn...And while I am still having sciatic pain (and will be at the chiropractor soon) EVERYTHING else is better. God is so good! I’m so blessed I have the resources I have that have made such a difference in this pregnancy. •

Homeschooling friends, find what works for you! Everyone’s homeschool looks different. It feels good when you find what works. Gather ideas and ask what people do and take those ideas and put your own spin on it. Don’t try to do what others do or try to make your school day look like a traditional classroom.
I use focus notes for a list for my kiddos each day. Chores are on there, activities to remember, etc. They give me their list back when it is all complete, which determines if they can have screen time. Then I check it off on my master list. This allows me to see a big picture of things. #focusnotes #plumpaperplanner #plumpaperchecklist #homeschool #dowhatworksforyou
Using The Good and the Beautiful for our science this year has been amazing thus far!
Working from 🏡 home. I gotta say I’ve never been good at “employee-ing” .. just the whole concept that some boss could pull the rug out from under me at any given time without warning ⚠️ the whole getting up early , the hustle the bustle .. sitting in traffic 🙀 I’m just not a fan. While working from home comes with its own unique challenges., I like being able make my own hours and lets face it, work in my comfy clothes and snack on yummy fruit whenever I want to. I have been running my clothing business for 14 years and while it has never been easy, it created a lucrative income for me and my family. Freedom to be creative and be at home so I could homeschool my kids. Making clothing is a passion of mine but let’s face it, the artisan life is not the “easy life “ ..... Recently in an effort to start working smart and not as hard I embarked on a new business venture. My intention was to run it a a side gig, but CBD is such a hot market that it far surpassed my vision. Within one month of selling CBD, Donnie and I made 5k affiliate rank, making 1k a week ( even while surfing in hawaii 🏄🏼♀️) and get this, We are already so close to making our second rank to be 10k affiliates. I’m certainly not sharing this to impress you, only sharing because I know many of you need this kind of business opportunity, like yesterday. I can’t begin to tell you how good it feels to make a difference in others lives with not only their income and lifestyle but more importantly their health. We hear new testimonies daily and our minds are blown 🤯. If you are not Familiar yet with how #cbd
can benefit your health, I suggest you do your own research. You will be amazed. It feel so good to be a part of such a quality company. SO !!!!! 👉🏻 If hanging out eating fruit 🍉 🍑🍒 in your leggings with your family is your idea of #officegoals
holler at me ! We would love to have you on our team.
