...a Crazy Story we just missed being apart of...did you hear about the 160 people stranded on the top of #whistlermountain
???? A freak thunder and snow storm whipped up, just 2 weeks ago, to the point that the Sky Tram (the only way up or down) malfunctioned and stranded 160 people up there.
A helicopter that had been forest fire fighting came to rescue 5 at a time, bringing 120 people down the mountain. By 11pm the helicopter couldn’t continue and 40 people slept throughout the #jasperskytram
Restaurant at the top... I quizzed our Australian server about the event...she had seemed a little worn out and WE were her Last Customers of the night...ya, those people...(I’ve worked in restaurants ah’ Know how that feels)...she perked right up telling us all about the first ever event in the history of the #skytramjasper
Apparently all the victims of the event were pretty excited about their helicopter ride, free food and drinks, and they were reimbursed their #SkyTram
tickets and #jasperalberta
had a whole rescue welcome committee waiting at the bottom of #whistler
with Vouchers for more meals in the town of Jasper.
This is a REALLY high Mountain, and I learned that some of my risk taker kids whom I’ve pulled away from Many edges, Actually DO have limits, clinging to my hand telling me they now were vowing to never go sky diving after this experience 🙄
Even in the heat of summer, it’s cold up there...SO SO COLD!
btw::it Was Really hard to capture the height in photos and I’m not a fan of taking scenic photos unless there’s people in them 🙈 but I did post a bunch in Stories
