North Hozomeen! Zorro wall on the left profile, NE Buttress on the right skyline. The former has been climbed once and sounds scary but I can recommend the latter as a scenic romp. .
The view from the Desolation Peak fire lookout, two weeks ago. The ranger who's there this summer, who illustrated children's books in the 80s, says he's been doing the occasional doodle in the logbook.

The fire lookout atop Desolation Peak, with Hozomeen Mountain in the background. Jack Kerouac took the summer lookout shift here in 1956. This summer, it's staffed by a very kind and gentle former professional illustrator, who invited us inside and offered to share his snowmelt water.
“Hozomeen, Hozomeen, most beautiful mountain I ever seen" - Jack Kerouac
A quote from Desolation Angels, when Jack spent a summer on the BC/WA border spotting fires. That book is a fave of mine and dang the man speaks truth. Mount Hozomeen is stunning. That's just the tip down there in this shot from the Heather Trail in Manning Park, en route to the Three Brothers Mountains and a few nights under the stars. Planning a few summer backpack adventures, can't wait to be back in these hills.
Manning Park, BC, looking towards Washington state.
