A new edition to Mumbai’s dining scene @mustardrestaurants
famous for its unique dining style of serving both French and Bengali cuisine, the ingenious brainchild of @punamhSingh
Starting with the French menu, created by Chef Gregory Bazire; first up was a tomato tartare ; plump juicy tomatoes bursting with fresh, zesty flavours, laying on a bed of crunchy red quinoa. Moving on to the baked mussels, delicately flavoured with wine and herbs, topped with a thin green crumb that cuts through the creaminess of the dish. A skin crisped roast duck cooked in its own fat, surrounded by a rich, meaty jus was outstanding and I thought, hard to top. I was wrong and though I loved all the dishes, my favourite by far was the Bengali curry, succulent king prawns bursting with goodness, laying in a pool of mild and silky coconut curry; each bite was nirvana thanks to the supremely talented Pritha Sen, curator of the Bengali menu.
Leave space for the dessert which was as sweetly gratifying as it sounds, warm Pistachio sponge swimming on a bed of creamy luscious custard, topped with a tangy raspberry compote and a wafer thin sugar tuile. Comfort food at its best with immaculate presentation.
An innovative menu, well thought of decor and good service made an already outstanding dining experience even better. Check out my story to catch a glimpse of more food . Better still, go visit Mustard.
