I started off the new year with two back to back c-section births! I am so glad that I am slowly but surely beginning to be allowed in the OR to get amazing images like this for families. I strongly believe birth photography can be even more important for families who have to have a c-section as it allows them to be able to see, remember, and process their birth experience that often times went a totally different way than they had planned. Without those images, it can become a total blur with the medication and physical challenges of going through a c-section, not to mention the emotional aspect of having to surrender control of your birth process. I want birth photography for c-section families to become the norm rather than the exception. I want to begin to see the mother's desires be a priority, even if that means that they still want their birth photographed in the OR. I want to see more physicians recognizing well trained and professional birth photographers as a part of the birth team, even for c-sections, so that mothers can get the empowerment they deserve, even when birth doesn't go as planned. Thank you UNMH for listening to and respecting families wishes, and for trusting me to be a part of even a c-section birth, so that I can beautifully capture priceless moments like these for families!
