Monday. 11:30AM. At a hospital 1.5 hours away from home. I've been waiting for this surgery since late 2016, as apprehensive as I am, it can't come quick enough.
This is my 8th laparoscopy. Number 5 for endo (the other 3 were appendix, gallbladder and bile leak). Safe to say I'm a veteran by now but I still freak and worry I'll forget something.
This is the first time I'll be kept in overnight, and it will be the largest surgery I've had to date - Laparoscopy, hysteroscopy, removal of endo, checking my diaphragm, liver and kidneys, d&c, cystoscopy and finally insertion of Mirena. I will have a catheter and abdominal drain when I wake up.
As always, I have the worry I may wake up with a permanent bag. I also worry I may wake up post op to be told I required an emergency hysterectomy. And of course, with any procedure requiring anaesthesia, there's always the worry you may not wake up.
I guess these worries are normal with any surgery coming up.. in a way I'm glad I only got 2 weeks notice. I'm just trying to take it one day at a time and make it through to Monday. Not long now! 🤞🤞🤞😬
