DAY 18: Walking Wobbly + Standing More!
LOOK AT ME WALK, WITHOUT HELP! Even though I’m wobbly and look like I had a little too much to drink 🍹, I’ve surprisingly become VERY strong in week 3 of #ivddrecovery
Lately, I’ve been practicing standing and balancing while eating. Today, my parents felt comfortable taking off my towel sling (just for a little bit) outside! I’m still supposed to be on bed rest for another week, so they’ve been very cautious, but I can’t help it — I just want to get back to playing outside! I even pushed myself up from bed a few times when my parents weren’t looking — oopsies! I definitely got yelled at for that one. 😔 I’m like a baby that just learned how to walk — you never know when I’m going to fall, and you can’t let your eyes off of me for a split second!
This whole experience has truly been a miracle, and my parents feel so grateful. No one expected an old 9-year old dog like me to start walking until the 2nd or 3rd month after surgery (or ever again). Now, I’m walking by myself and it’s not even the end of the first month! Every dog is different though, so for other pups with #IVDD
who haven’t stood yet don’t worry, you’ll get there. It hasn’t been an easy road and there were definitely times when my parents went through a rollercoaster of emotions: frustrated, sad, exhausted, and anxious with uncertainty. Not to mention, the vet bills. BUT, once you show progress it’s all worth it!
❤️ you all, stay tuned for more updates! Hopefully I won’t look drunk in the next post. 😂 #ivddwontstopsami
