aka Yogi Squat 3 ways (swipe left). Malasana is a term for various squatted asana but today we’ll focus on Garland Pose. Garland Pose, is a mild hip opener that stimulates your metabolism and digestive organs while stretching your groin, lower back, sacrum, and hips. This pose is one of my favorite hip openers because it’s easily accessible. Start by bringing your feet slightly wider than hip-width apart, and turning your toes out ever so slightly. Begin to sit your hips as far down as you comfortably can, resting your forearm on your thighs if you hips aren’t open enough to fall to ground. Your heels might lift a bit, and that’s okay, try to keep them down, but don’t force them. Bring your elbows inside your knees, pressing your palms together. Use your elbows to push your knees apart while rolling the shoulders down your spine to the best of your ability. Stay here for 30 seconds to one minute. To get out of the pose, either sit back onto your buttocks, or push back up to standing.
There are options to use a block to sit on or a blanket under your heels to create more comfort and ease.
Reminder, this hip opener stretches the hips and groin. While this can help with relief from discomfort and prevent strain, exercise caution. Go slowly and don’t push your body beyond its limits. 🖤 Don't forget to use the hashtag #bgytribechallenge
