Pizza - always a good idea 💯 My tips for keeping it on the “healthier” side are: •opt for an oil base. (Remember to choose extra virgin & cold pressed oils) or a homemade pesto! •mince fresh garlic cloves & dice up fresh onions for extra seasoning! (Garlic & onions are 2 of the top foods to eat to help improve your gut flora & they are delicious- win win😘) •choose fresh herbs to add extra flavor instead of salt! Basil & oregano are my go to! •load your pizzas up with all your favorite veggies! •choose healthier & fresh cheese. Nature's candy!! 🍓. If there is one thing that I struggle with (yes even as a Health Coach, I have my cravings for unhealthy food) is a sweet tooth. I always have, and living in a neighborhood where I am surrounded by the smell of delicious baked goods coming from the bakeries a few blocks away, sometimes it's hard to resist my sweet tooth. One of the things that has always helped me curve that craving, is to instead, stock up on my favorite berries so that I can satisfy my sweets craving with something healthy and beneficial. When not in season, I usually opt for organic frozen #traderjoes mixed berries and I make myself a smoothie. What are some of your solutions to curb your sweet tooth? Yes - too much when the body isn't ready or when the body is toxic with halides (bromide, chlorine, flouride, metals) can cause some uncomfortable detox reactions (again, this doesn't make iodine dangerous -it just shows it's powerful at moving toxins). Common detox signs are headaches, agitation, palpitations, nervousness, the jitters or irritated thyroid symptoms. If you get these symptoms, don't lose faith in the iodine -just know there's more to the story. It may take a much slower approach in many cases to build up to taking iodine without reactions like these. Let’s learn about the “Body Scan” it’s a Mindfulness 101 technique that helps us to get out of our head and into our body and helps us increase our self-awareness in the present moment. The purpose is to train your focus and attention, practise letting go, increase our clarity and become aware of our minds’ chatter (overthinking!) To do your own body scan exercise: Find a private spot and sit comfortably, to begin the body scan exercise Start by thinking carefully about your feed and slowly more your attention up through the whole body. Pause in each area to pay close attention to each area. Stay curious and notice: what does it feel like: warm/cold, light or heavy, tense or relaxed, even on both sides? Let go of trying to control or alter it. I use this practise daily, I suggest you try this, I’d love to know what you think!

Anyone else feel like Sunday’s invoke a bit of overwhelm? I try my best to use it as a day of rest, but I honestly feel so unsettled! Learning how to relax has been a skill I’ve needed to work at and one I have to consciously choose. 💜 It could also be because I’m like “hey Laura, on this day of rest, you know it’s great if you spend the day planning for the week ahead. You’ll be less stressed out all week! That includes meal prep, mapping out work projects, cleaning, and trying to do all the things on your own time” 😳 You’re right, this is too much! This is why you’re in my life. I’ll take your advice and chill out 💕 I’m headed for a walk in the sunshine to check my energy instead. 🍌BANANA BREAD- Sundays are for baking... . . . Para domingos así de fríos en los que no quieres ni salir de tu casa y se te antoja cocinar... Este pan de plano es súper sano, alto en fibra, bajo en azúcar y fácil de hacer. Ojo, no queda cómo el típico panque esponjado, la consistencia es más la de un pan compacto. Es súper fácil de hacer y lo puedes comer como postre o desayuno. . . . Lleva: • 1 taza de harina de coco • 1 taza de harina de avena (si tienes la avena entera puedes molerla en un procesador o nutribullet) • 1/4 de taza de linaza molida • 2 cucharadas de miel de agave • 3/4 de cucharadita de polvo para hornear • 1/2 cucharadita de sal • 1/2 taza de puré de plátano (mientras más maduros mejor) • 3 huevos • 1 cucharada de aceite de oliva • 2 cucharadas de miel de abeja • 1 cucharada de vinagre de manzana • 1/2 taza de avena (entera) . . . 👨🏼‍🍳 Preparacion: 1. Precalienta el horno a 180 grados 2. Mezcla en un bowl todos los ingredientes secos y en otro por separado los demás 3. Mezcla bien los dos bowls 4. Agrega la avena entera al final y mezcla 6. Arriba le puedes poner nueces picadas y plátano 5. Hornea de 35-40 minutos . . . . 👆🏻TIP: Si sientes que le falta sabor, puedes agregarle individualmente a cada rebanada el topping que quieras tipo ghee o mantequilla y miel, crema de Almendra o mermelada. Sopa de Remolacha - Beets soup🇺🇸👇 . Esta sopa aparte de ser facilísima, esta llena de color y de nutrientes que tu cuerpo necesita. . 3 remolachas grandes hervidas, peladas y cortadas en gajos grandes 1 cebolla blanca mediana 1 cucharadita de ajo picadito 1 cucharada de aceite de coco 3 tazas de caldo de vegetales sin sal Sal y pimienta al gusto . En una olla, coloca el aceite a calentar a fuego medio y sofríe el ajo y la cebolla, cuando la cebolla esté cristalina añade la remolacha y sigue sofriendo por 5 minutos más, luego añade el caldo y tapa la olla, una vez hierva baja el fuego a mínimo, añade sal y pimienta al gusto y deja cocinar por 15 minutos más. Apaga el fuego y licua la preparación. Puedes decorar con croutons hechos de pan Ezekiel, que le agregas un poquito de mantequilla clarificada Ghee con ajo y perejil en polvo y lo llevas al horno hasta que se tuesten. . Las remolachas son altas en fibra, folato (acido folico) y vitamina C, además ayudan a disminuir la presión arterial, tiene beneficios anti-inflamatorios y mejoran la digestión. 👌🥣😊 . 🇺🇸 3 beets boiled, peeled and cut into wedges 1 medium onion cut into wedges 1 teaspoon of garlic finely chopped 1 tablespoon of coconut oil 3 cups of unsalted vegetable broth Salt and Pepper to taste . Heat oil in a pot and sauté garlic and onions until onions are crystalized, add beets and cook them all for around 5 minutes more, then add vegetable broth and cover with the lid. Once the soup is boiling, turn down the heat and simmer on low heat for 15 minutes more. Add this time you can add salt and pepper to taste. Carefully blend the soup until desired consistency. You can garnish with croutons made with Ezekiel bread (cut bread into small cubes, spread a little bit of clarified butter Ghee and sprinkle some garlic powder and parsley, then bake in the oven until browned). . Productive weekends are the BEST! Before 11am I had walked 🐶, done all the dishes, done all the laundry, and made myself this 🔥 simple breakfast 🍳 . I made two pasture-raised organic eggs, avocado, sprouted grain bread with coconut oil melted on top 😍 . Headed to the grocery store soon then yoga and meal prep! 🍗 . This week in my nutrition school we learned about juicing and some of God’s superfoods. I thought I would highlight Goji Berries for you as they’re packed with goodness. According to @medicalnewstoday Goji berries- 1. Protect the Eyes Goji berries are believed to protect against age-related eye diseases. Goji berries can help vision because they contain high levels of healthy antioxidants, especially zeaxanthin. 2. Provides immune system support Goji berries contain healthy antioxidants. Antioxidants are known for their immune-boosting qualities and their ability to fight harmful free radicals and inflammation. Goji berries contain large amounts of vitamins A and C, similarly to other berries, including blueberries and raspberries. Vitamins A and C are vital for building immunity and preventing illnesses, ranging from the common cold to cancer. 3. Protects against cancer High levels of antioxidants, including vitamin C, zeaxanthin, and carotenoids, are responsible for fighting cancer cells. Antioxidants slow tumor growth, reduce inflammation, and help to remove harmful substances from the body. Research on mice, reported in the journal Drug Design, Development and Therapy, finds goji berries may inhibit tumor growth and boost the effectiveness of cancer treatments. 4. Promotes healthy skin Goji berries contain beta-carotene, which is an essential plant phytochemical. Beta-carotene is known for its ability to promote healthy skin. Beta-carotene is an ingredient used in skin creams to: improve skin health reduce skin irritation manage the effects of the sun manage the impact of aging. 5. Stabilizes blood sugar Goji berries may be helpful in controlling the release of sugar into the blood. Research from 2015 shows that goji berries balance insulin and glucose levels in the blood. The same study linked goji berries to increased HDL levels in people with type 2 diabetes. HDL is known as good cholesterol. 6. Research from 2016 that was done using rats shows goji berries can improve depression and anxiety-like behaviors.

Happy Sunday sweet chickies 🐣 💭 Seems like emotional eating is a hot topic today to talk about. It frustrates me that people think of emotional eating as all “bad,” because it’s just human. In so many instances, food is JOY and celebration, but it can also be comfort. It IS emotional, so you just have to be honest + tune into YOUR needs. — There’s nothing wrong with being an emotional eater when you understand why you do it. If it's to suppress emotions (stress, fear, sadness, loneliness, anxiety, etc.) then it’s best to take a step back and sit with your feelings first, rather than numb yourself with food. Food can’t fill a void where emotions belong.. trust me, I’ve been there 🙏. — But then, if you recognize, acknowledge, feel your feelings + still want the food? EAT IT! The emotions may still be there, but you’re now eating because you know it’ll make you feel better than before. Follow your intuition, darlin! Not what anyone else says. — I emotionally eat at times - no shame 🤷🏻‍♀️ Some days, I know that a bowl like this 👆 will make me happier or calmer. Along with cooking, baking, and meal prep. So emotional eating is human, but let’s just take the more self-aware way when approaching it 🙏 What’re your thoughts?
