Step out of that way of life and into color. —————————- For many years I went through life like this - wake up, get kids ready, go to work, come home, make dinner, pay bills, get kids to bed, go to bed, next day- repeat- next day- repeat. I was living life in black and white. ————————— What I mean by that is just going about the motions, same thing, different day, letting life control me, rather than me controlling my life. I was unhappy, unfulfilled, I was just waiting, for nothing really. Can you relate, have you been there too🙋🏼‍♀️? —————————- We need to take back our lives and live them to the fullest. Like we were meant to do. We need to live it, not let life live us. ————————- Time seems to fly by and when you look back, don’t you want to feel like you went after your dreams, worked hard towards your goals, enjoyed all the moments rather than worrying about the things that probably never happened? Don’t you want to know that you loved, that you built great friendships, that you learned a lot along the way, that you made a difference🤷‍♀️? I sure did and that’s why I finally woke up one day and started living. I mean really LIVING ❤️. ——————————- Take a moment to think about it, look back over the last few years. December 12th Today's gratitude is simple. I am grateful for sipping fresh water straight from the coconut. Not only does it taste delicious, the water is also full of electrolytes and minerals. It's a better source of hydration than some over cleansed and filtered tap water, that's for sure.🌴 . I am drinking two a day now, trying to get as much of the nutritional benefits as I can before heading home to the cold north😂 There ain't no coconuts at the trees there.

I have a new challenge for you. For the next two weeks, I want you to join me in a deep breathing exercise. Deep breathing has so many benefits. Let's start with the basics - your regular breathing (the kind you thankfully don't have to think about) is much shallower than deep breathing. These breaths stop at the lungs & chest. Deep breathing is when you you engage your whole upper body and stomach. To breathe deeper, you should focus on pushing your stomach out while you inhale, and pulling it back in during the exhale. This seems a little awkward and not normal at first, but keep practicing. . . . The exercise: 4-7-8... what does this mean?! Inhale while pushing your stomach out and count to 4 (silently), hold that breath for 7 counts, and exhale that breath while counting to 8 (silently). Repeat this four times total. It's important to only do this 4 times through for a while, to get comfortable with it. . . . Benefits of this exercise? Deep breathing releases muscle tension, improves circulation, improves digestion, the cardiovascular system, strengthens the respiratory system, increases energy, reduces stress... why would you not try it? P R E G N A N C Y // xmas season, all the food and pregnancy? 🤷‍♀️🤰it may mean more bloating⁣ 🤢⁣ ⁣⁣ when you’re pregnant, the high amounts of progesterone relax our muscles, including the muscles of our intestine! relaxed and slower digestive muscles = slower digestion, more gas and bloating=less fun! it happens anytime during pregnancy, but gets more uncomfortable in 3rd trimester when our tummy is a size of 🍉 and pushes our stomach up in our ribcage! (oh, memories! 🤗) ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ here are a few tips on how to deal with bloating naturally:⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ ★drink heaps of fluids, water is best. avoid drinking during the meals as large amounts may slow down digestion even more (we need those stomach acids to be strong and working). best is to drink throughout the day. Tip: keep some💧 near your bed, so you can hydrate and the wake up the body 1st thing in the AM!⁣ ★fiber- we need plenty of it,aim for 25-30g per day. there are many awesome foods to choose from, and the simplest way to remember is to eat lots of veggies. some of my favorite choices for fiber are: prunes (also rich in iron 🌟 ), pears (around 5-6g in just 1 pear!), lentils (~15 grams in 1 cup, cooked; hello stews and curries), chickpeas (~5-6g in half a cup, hello #hummus ),chia seeds (~5g per 1 tbs, hello #chiapudding ),broccoli (~2g per cup, which is just a few florets). ⁣⁣ ★as much as tempting, avoid lying down right after a meal. also, lying down on your left side is best (it helps with digestion, blood flow and helps kidneys to work efficiently)⁣⁣. ★keep moving to get ‘things moving’. anything- a walk, grocery run, easy house chores.⁣..⁣ ★relax- stress has always had a negative impact on my tummy, and it’s when bloating creeps in 😮 find a few minutes to yourself, do some breathing, enjoy a herbal tea..whatever works 🧘‍♀️ ⁣ ★warm drinks- herbal teas or apple cider vinegar with hot water are best; they help to relax the bloated tummy. ⁣ ★keep a slow pace — chewing properly and eating mindfully will help with digestion and you’ll be able to notice when you’re full.⁣ ★comfy pants! yes, ladies, you know that (hello yoga pants and maternity dresses).⁣ ⁣ what has worked for you? ⁣ ⁣ #healthypregnancy #holistichealth

Mornings are tough for this little lady. I get it as I’m not a morning person, either. 🤕 . She loves her new school dearly but still has some trepidation in the morning, which is a residual effect from a terrible experience at a school in UAE. (The main reason we started homeschooling.) ✨ . I try to allow time and space for her to discuss and identify with words what’s going in for her. It’s working - yay! . The other thing we’ve started doing, the 3 of us girls, is standing on the mirror and saying something really nice to yourself while looking in your eyes. The eldest, 10, is totally embarrassed but I see it clicking. 🤩The youngest typically loves is as she’s still quite honest with herself and the world about how amazing she is. ❤️ . Today, though, we pulled out the old Wonder Woman pose. Scientifically proven to help raise confidence - it’s such a winner. 🦹‍♂️ Have you tried it? WHAT TO AVOID FOR DEPRESSION & ANXIETY? 🤷🏼‍♀️ . There is more in depth information coming out in my second feature blog for Shelley Ward, so I’ll just give a little summary here 👇🏼 ONE: Reduce refined sugar Look, I’m a major sweet tooth (confession🙋🏼‍♀️) so I get it - but what we don’t normally realise is the havoc refined sugars can cause for our blood sugar levels, which in turn affect our concentration, energy levels, and can increase the symptoms of depression (when the sugar low hits) and anxiety (when the sugar high hits). Limiting the amount of processed sugar in your diet won’t just help your mental health, but your health in general & that’s a major win too! . TWO: Reduce the coffee.. I know, I’m really sorry about this one, but hear me out. Caffeine affects our Sympathetic Nervous System by stimulating our adrenal glands to produce adrenaline in preparation for a fight or flight, when there is no real threat. If you’re having multiple cups of coffee a day, it’s likely that you’re not doing much at all to help your anxiety. Limiting yourself to one coffee a day is recommended, even going without it for a couple of weeks to give your body some time, would greatly benefit! 🙏🏼 . Why not try it out and see how you feel? I promise you won’t regret it 🙌🏼 (p.s I know this isn’t a photo of coffee but I liked it the best okay 😂) #letsgetmindhealthy

HOW TO CHECK FOOD LABELS FOR SUGAR CONTENT: So my cousin (and family matter of fact🤦🏽‍♀️) kept me accountable on my health coaching duties to our family. . . 🌟Mind you, my approach to coaching is completely different than what was taught to me. I have a “by any means necessary approach” which includes coaching via text, because HELLO it’s 2018🤷🏽‍♀️. . . 🌟Today’s impromptu lesson was one that popped into my head when I woke up thinking about the hidden sugars in just about every food that’s packaged. IT’S👏🏽IN👏🏽EVERYTHING👏🏽. . . . 🌟Consider Exhibit A: This hot cocoa from #starbucks has one of the newer food labels on the market. See where it says 17 total sugars? It says it includes 16 grams of added sugars. That means they literally added 16 grams of sugar to this product meaning it naturally only had 1 gram. And remember that’s per exact serving not including the milk you put the powdered cocoa into😳. 4 grams of sugar equals 1 teaspoon THUS each serving has a little more than 4 teaspoons of sugar. . . So, use this example to figure out how much sugar you’re consuming a day. It’s recommended for women to have around 6 teaspoons of added sugar daily 😳😳😳. Excess sugar does contribute to weight gain, hormonal imbalances and more. This new @doterra oil has been a surprisingly new favorite of mine. I have always had issues with putting essential oils on my face due to extremely sensitive skin. I had heard such amazing things about this oil and how smooth it makes your skin. I have been able to use it in my face without any weird reactions and it is completely living up to the hype.
