Tomo and I had an amazing time absorbing the vibrant culture of Bangkok, Thailand for 5 days. We stayed at the Two-Three Homely Hotel located in Asok, Thailand and I highly recommend them if you are ever planning a trip to this beautiful city. They are affordable and in a great location. The food as you can imagine was incredible - spicy, but delicious. Just be prepared to go on an unexpected bathroom break from time to time;) We had a great time bargain shopping at chatuchaku market (ตลาดนัดสวนจตุจักร). They are only open on weekends so we lucked out getting a chance to go for a day. We had a chance to visit some beautiful temples and learn more about this culture. We had the opportunity to make a reservation at one of the newest and hottest rooftop bars in Bangkok— #aboveeleven
. ‘Above Eleven’ has been open for 6 years and is located in the Soi 11 district which is known for its nightlife. The view was phenomenal and the food was incredible. The manager was super friendly and to our surprise will be moving to Tokyo next year and working at a restaurant in Ginza (I didnt get the name of the restaurant). And finally, we were able to do some shopping at the numerous malls around the Sukhumvit area. I had to treat myself to new shoes, a new wallet and some
new ties among other things. My wife was also able to find some nice things so i dished out the baht. Now, its time to fly back to Tokyo and prepare for upcoming shows happening the next few months.
Here are a few i recommend happening in the next couple of weeks:
Nov 24th: Dennis Lambert Latin Jazz Trio at Inaka Jazz Festival
Nov 28th: Duo with Ginny Wilson at ‘The Deep’, Ginza
Nov 30th: David Russell “Dr. Jazz” Birthday Live featuring ‘The International Jazz Day Band’ at Satin Doll. [Check the flyer for details]. Thank you once again Bangkok!
