Adapting your Training Routine to suit you⠀ ⠀ Finally back After a few months of Being out because of injury, Still not 100% but it was a lesson learnt not to go back to my usual routine just yet. ⠀ ⠀ My current Routine:⠀ 1 x dance class ⠀ 2-3 strength training - Starting back with bodyweight/light weights and seeing how I feel each day ⠀ Walking 4 times a weeks and trying to Focus on reaching over 10k steps a day. ⠀ ⠀ ⬆️⠀ As you can see This is not a one size fits all routine of 4-6 strength training workouts a week. Hopefully I’ll get back to that soon, but it’s not suitable for me at the moment. ⠀ ⠀ Don’t be hard on yourself for not being at the level every YouTube/blogger you see is at with there fitness journey. Everyone’s routine should be adapted to them and changed consistency. As long as your trying your very best you can, you’ve won 🙌🏻 ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀ ⠀

🌟 INCLINE BENCH PB 🌟 . One of my biggest goals this offseason was to achieve a 40kg bench so I am BUZZING 👊🏼🎉 . I was feeling ballsy this evening so decided to test out my 1RM with no spot - this rep was a bit of a grinder 😅 on reflection it probably wasn’t the smartest thing to do but I think psychologically I push harder when unaccompanied as I do not enjoy the idea of the bar squashing my internal organs 🙃 . My strength has progressed exponentially since commencing this offseason. . I’m so proud of myself for adhering to a structured massing phase. I believe I have really maximised my strength development and muscle hypertrophy through committing myself to the goal, ticking all the boxes and accounting for every variable ✅ . HERE'S A QUICK FIX FOR YOU . What you need - Patience - Determination - Commitment - Accountability - Visualization . Fix your bloody mindset, set a goal and get focused, realise a quick fix is not the answer and that by taking small steps you can get big results!! . I don't care what anyone says you cannot join a gym, join a bootcamp, complete PT etc for 8-12 weeks then at then end say I am nowhere near where I want to be, I expected to have had better results. Im not going back!!! . Answer this Did you attend all your sessions? Did you give your all while training? Did you eat well and keep a food diary? Did you take assessments, photos etc? . If you answered no to most of these then did you really try? Do you want it bad enough? . This was the exact spot I was standing when my ex boyfriend decided to chuck a Mr Big on me and not come on the trip to KL & Singapore with me. We were going through a break up and that trip which was booked way before that was meant to be the trip that helps “fix us” . That Singapore trip was the first time I met my remote client face to face. Fast forward 1.5 years later, they are flying me over to work on their event. And I am now calling Bali my second home - which would not had happened if it wasn’t for the trip that I went on not long after the break up. And I probably wouldn’t have entertained the idea of remote woke if I wasn’t single then. . Not sure if it is the Taurus full moon or just reflecting and feeling so grateful with all the opportunities I have had since, I actually am feeling eternally grateful for him to have called it off (and did it in such a way where it is so much easier to get over) because we weren’t right for each other from the start and I wouldn’t have achieved what I’ve had achieved today if it wasn’t for that breakup. . As my favourite saying goes - everything happens for a reason. I needed to let go of a relationship that no longer serves me, in order to create space to work towards my bigger purpose and passion. What if he had came with me on that trip, my life would’ve been very different and I’m probably still stuck in my comfort zone. . Sometimes, you just have to let go of that comfort, which you’re so familiar with (be it a relationship, a friendship, that job) to create more space to do things that you love and want to do and most importantly, creating that ideal life of yours ✨

🎉 NEW PB 🎉 . Last night I pulled a new PB of 85kg for 6 reps which I’m absolutely delighted about. . Considering back in February I could only pull 80kg for a very wobbly three reps, I’m very happy with my progression on this lift. . One of my main goals has always been to deadlift 100kg. As I edge closer and closer to this number, I become more and more determined to achieve this by the end of 2019 🌟 . Although I will be starting a contest prep very soon (10 days omg) I will not be going in with the mindset of “I’m in a calorie deficit, I will not be able to progress” . 🚫 HELL NO 🚫 . I will be diving into every session with the exact same goals as in offseason: 🔥Work harder 🔥Push harder 🔥Get as strong as humanly possible at every single exercise. . I inserted my current deadlift stats into a 1RM calculator online, which, although not completely accurate, predicted a max deadlift of 98.75kg, not far off from treble digits 🙌🏼 . BAD RELATIONSHIPS . There are so many bad relationships forming with food, I myself have had them, Iv listened to uneducated people and listened to rumours like this ⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️. ....if you cut out bread the weight will fall off you ...your breaking out in spots because your diet is high in sugar ....you should cut down on your carbs my mate done that and lost a stone in 2 weeks ....eat what you want but make sure you don't eat after 6pm at night ....see them protein bars your eating you would be safer eating a snickers . And so on.....................there's so much shit information out there today, I am by no means a nutritionist...yet; but I suggest you base your daily eating habits around eating whole foods packed with nutrients and also enjoy treats in moderation don't cut any foods out unless ofcourse your intolerant to them. Things don’t always go to plan, and that’s ok! 🙏🏼 . I just completed an upper body session this evening - as soon as I started with my first movement (incline smith press) I felt a slight niggle in my right upper pec, which prevented me from reaching and/or surpassing last week’s numbers. . I won’t lie I did find this a bit frustrating as apart from the niggle I was feeling energized and motivated to push my lifts. But I had to remind myself that it’s just one session, and progress is rarely linear. As long as the general trend is on the rise, then that means that improvements are being made. . It’s very hard during offseason to cut yourself some slack when things don’t go as they should. You convince yourself that with a surplus of calories, minimal cardio and a better recovery capability you should be progressing every single set of every exercise. But there is a limiting rate at which you can build muscle tissue. . Bodybuilding is all about playing the long game. Patience is key 🔑 . One session may not go to plan, but if you are eating your meals, putting your all into every session, and ticking every box every day, you WILL improve, you WILL get stronger, and you WILL accrue muscle tissue over time 🏆 . ARE YOU GETTING NOWHERE? . Have you been working out more than ever maybe you are doing 5/6 sessions a week and still not seeing the results you want....you need to be thinking nutrition!! . It's easy to think your not exercising enough I have in the past aswell but if your not fuelling your body right you won't get the results you desire let alone feel good in yourself . T minus 13 days until my 2019 prep commences 🙈😅 . Have already had two great training sessions this week 👊🏼 Always appreciate when @thefitn3rd is at the gym so that I can make the most of having a spotter and really push myself further than I could on my own! . Visited the physio yesterday and things are improving. We did some soft tissue work to alleviate some of the tightness in my lower back. I just need to stay on top of my prescribed exercises and reduce the load on some of my heavy lifts, including my RDLs. . Instead, the plan is to focus on correct movement pattern, activating and engaging the target muscle group, and trying to eliminate as much lower back pressure as possible. If this is done with focus, the reduced load can be just, if not more, challenging than the original weight. . IV LOST MY FOCUS LATELY. . Iv been quiet on here lately, to be honest my mind has been in other things and I can't actually think straight to provide you with good content so I haven't been as consistant as I usually am but I will get back to it very soon and give you my best advice💪 . I think it's extremely important to not get annoyed at yourself or let your current circumstances get you down if you are not feeling your usual self. If your tired, rest don't quit! If your not as productive as you usually are then that's ok, you will get back to being productive! Accept the fact you can't be great all the time you can't be giving 100% every single day we are only human. . Anyway enough soppy shit, on a better note im still training and eating well, feeling stronger than ever and trying to regain my focus. I hope you are smashing your goals too and feeling great. Sometimes it's good to just let it be, let your thoughts come and go without reacting to them, take some time out and when your ready come back even better than before, have a great Thursday and weekend😘 . . . . . .
Deload week is well and truly underway, and I have made sure to include the prescribed physio exercises at the end of my sessions. . During my appointment I was informed that my limbs have been getting stronger, but that my core and lower back have not caught up, and are struggling to keep up with the weights I am lifting. She reassured me that this was a “good problem” to have, as it shows I am working hard, building strength and muscle tissue. . To mitigate my lower back pain and prevent any further risk of injury, I’ve been advised to build my core strength and work on my stability with the following two exercises: 🌟Single Leg Kettle Bell Stiff Leg Deadlifts 🌟Single Leg Plank Holds . Working on stability and core strength will enable my body to cope with the heavy loads I’ve been expecting it to handle. . This will also ensure further progressive overload and hypertrophy will be maximized 🙏🏼 . Our bodies take such a battering every day, and we expect so much from them. Have had a solid week of training where I’ve enjoyed my sessions and hit some all-time PBs 🙌🏼🔥 . I have a very intense and hectic profession and I’m often 15k steps deep and shattered by the time I even reach the gym. This is when habit over willpower needs to kick in, as sometimes I don’t feel like I have the energy to train. . Here are some tips that I’ve found have helped me after a busy, stressful day: . •Be prepared. If you can, change into your gym wear before leaving work. It will get you in the mood to train and it’s one less hassle for you once you get there. . •Eat a good preworkout meal to provide you with sustenance and fuel for your session. I like to include carbs, fat and protein to provide me with sufficient energy and to keep the hunger pangs at bay while training. . •If you need an extra kick up the arse, take a pre-workout. Whether it’s coffee, Monster or a pre-workout formula, it will provide you with a hit of caffeine that will give you that initial buzz to dive into your session. . Imagine for a second being afraid of a sandwich. Not of heights, not of ghosts or death. Bread. Imagine getting an anxiety over the thought of just eating. Picture yourself breaking down in tears because you have to go to a restaurant where they don’t label the food to eat. That was my life. Now, I’ve ate out about 4 times this week. I’ve ate extra food when I wasn’t even hungry. It scared me each time but I did it. I don’t let my disorder stop me. Recovery seems impossible until your there. You will never be 100% recovered in my opinion but you can definitely grow and because the best version of yourself. It’s thought me to be kind, to be grateful for every moment I get to spend alive and to have sympathy for those who do not yet understand 💜 LIFE WILL MAKE YOU HAPPY. BUT FIRST IT WILL MAKE YOU STRONG
Today’s main compound: Deadlifts 💀 . I hit a new PR of 80kg for 9 reps this evening 🙌🏼 Back in February I pulled the same weight for a wobbly 3 reps (after much coaching from @rosieandgym__ - swipe to view 🙈😂) . This may seem like nothing to some, but it is “my heavy”, to quote the beautiful @kerrysexton_pcapro ❤️ . I recently switched to touch & go deadlifts and they feel much much smoother. My deadlifts tend to look quite staggered, an amalgamation of multiple components rather than one fluid movement. . I am really chuffed with this progression, which is a result of hard work, perseverance, and just genuine stubbornness. . Trying to incorporate as much plant based options into my meals as I can. I no longer limit food groups (except dairy as I’m intolerant and can only handle a small amount of milk) but tried this @benandjerrys plant based ice cream and I’m abscessed. This was my breakfast. - 50g oats - 30g @bulkpowders_ie Vegan protein (vanilla) Heat in microwave with water for 30 seconds - stir and then another 30 second. Then top with: - 2 spoons cocoa powder -2 spoons chia seeds - unmeasured amount of Ben and Jerry’s, just whatever yo feel like 🌟It melts and it’s just AMAZING.
