The first detailed map of every single synapse in the mouse brain 🧠
The map - called a synaptome - is first to illustrate how more than a billion brain cell connections are organised, and could impact on our fundamental understanding of the brain and its disorders.
The team led by @edinburghuniversity
’s Prof Seth Grant and included @imperialukdri
scientist Dr Maksym Kopanitsa, used cutting-edge techniques, including molecular imaging and artificial intelligence, to look at synapses across the mouse brain. “This paper provides the most comprehensive description of the connectional architecture of the mouse brain to date. I was delighted that Maksym was able to contribute to the work of this exceptional team” Prof Paul Matthews
