@branspark learning the skill of toes 2 bar. When acquiring new skills, we need to look at multiple different things like core strength, grip strength, motor control just to name a few. But in order to add this movement and other skills like this we need to first perform them in a non fatigued setting, what I mean by that is they cannot be learned when combined with other movements. They must be done on there own until the skill is fully developed. This takes months for some and years for others if they do not yet have adequate strength. Over time and once the movement is dialed in we can add in some fatigue like fwb, double unders etc. This is called progression, throwing them in a workout because they look cool and fun is low order. It’s going to be a great year for athlete @taylor_domengeaux_cbg. His goals are very specific. Once you make it to the next level of competitiveness, training harder or training more isn’t going to do it. This necessitates a coach to dig deep into an athletes movement, physiology, and recovery etc. The purpose of hiring a coach should not be because you don’t like training with other athletes or because you want your training to be “unique.” Anyone can write a program that looks different from everyone else’s. Trying to build strength for handstand pushups? This requires shoulder, chest and tricep strength. In order to get that strength we need to contract the muscles in multiple different angles and planes. We cannot just do handstand holds, negative handstand pushups or progressions exercises to get there. It requires 1000's of contractions of different muscle groups to build enough strength to perform this movement correctly. This means traditional bodybuilding will have to do the trick. Here @therealmarcopetronio is performing weighted bench dips for reps to get the contractions he needs in his triceps. Individual training client @_thackattack10_ running through some muscle up drills. Instead of "doing more muscle ups" it's important to address weaknesses in the movement. The reason for these two drills is to learn to press down with the lats instead of pulling up with the biceps, (which he has a bad habit of). Improvement must sometimes be addressed in small pieces, rather than the whole. More before and after videos. Daniel @danny.ah has a really strong back and upper body, as you can see in the first video (3ish months old) You have to use your legs when weightlifting though. With a lot of practice and strengthening them in the right positions the lift from last week, at the same weight, looks totally different!
