As we we were leaving our hike, something pulled me towards a side path, I had been there once before when it was completely frozen over. I knew it wouldn't be frozen now and with my tired hunger toddler in tow I knew I couldn't explore for very long but I was so glad when I got there. This beauty left me in awe & wanting to go around the long way to see it up close.... Ill be back.

Dreamy scents for a warm soak in the tub. 🛁 (new arrival)
One of the things I have been struck by since my commitment to embracing the beauty of winter this year is that there is vibrant color even in this brown and grey season. Today it was oranges. The lichen on the bark of a giant cottonwood along the creek, and the webbed feet of ducks diving into frigid water. There really is beauty everywhere. Simply breathing and walking in the park with my girls today was all I needed.
The wonder of waves,
How mighty they rise,
Their power, their surging force,
Curling, crashing, rolling & thrashing,
Nature's magical course.
The wonder of waves,
How gentle they flow,
Their magnetic, aqueous tide,
With rhythm & grace,
The shoreline they face,
Blessed be forever by our side ~ ~uniquely🆕️y ~

I love the intensely alive red and glossy texture of these beautiful winter berries, and the delicate forms of the speckled, desiccated leaves. More shots for drawing/collage reference — but I'm also now thinking they look really Christmassy... 🍒

"In my end is my beginning.”
-Motto embroidered by Mary, Queen of Scots while imprisoned in England. 👑.
With yesterday marking the birthday of Mary, Queen of Scots, it has me thinking about how her life and legacy has influenced me, particularly in regards to my writing. Many events which occurred in her life were tragic; from losing her first husband, King Francis ll, to her eventual execution ordered by her cousin, Queen Elizabeth I. 😢.
But today, I want to focus on a few lesser known, fun facts about Mary. Did you know she had red hair and was almost 6 feet tall? She loved being outdoors and had a profound love for riding horses and dancing. In Scotland, she’s even considered the first woman to golf. ⛳️She spoke multiple languages, and though considered to have a fiery personality, she had a generous heart. 💖 Even as she wrote her will, she wanted to make sure all her servants were included. —
Mary spent most of her time in Scotland at the Palace of Holyroodhouse, which became a highlight during my stay in Edinburgh. From its beautiful grounds containing abbey ruins, to walking through Mary’s preserved 16th century apartments, it’s certainly an experience I’ll never forget. 🏰.
Which historical figures inspire you? ✨.

“Life is lived in the in between moments. It is not a series of points on a chart, but more the lines that hold them together, as if it were the map of a constellation. If we can focus on being present, we capture those moments in between.” (A little something I wrote for my advent calendar.... written while being in the true in between state: on an airplane)

I love the Opal dew drop on this Ivy leaves bracelet. It’s a fascinating organic gemstone, which like Amber and Jet, holds within it ancient life from a millennia ago. The stone’s formation began when Silica, the basis of all vertebrate creatures, filtered down from ground level, through the soil, down through the bedrock, until it collected, suspended in water, in subterranean rock fissures. And there it remained for many thousands of years, slowly transforming from a fluid to a hard Opal. And now its its on my little silver ivy leaf, still containing 10% water! The best Opal colour play occurs when the microscopic silica discs within it are perfectly arranged in parallel. This Opal is an extra fine grade, displaying many colours as it’s turned in the light. The bracelet is £250.

Sundays are for Moonstones 💫🌙💫. I think the reason why I’m so in love with these delicate gems is because they remind me to stay soft and to embrace my empathic side, which are my strengths, not weaknesses. #guidedbythemoon
I got a new batch of stones in that I’ve been working with and I can’t wait to share soon! 💕
