“Manila Bay” (16 x 20 inch oil on canvas with embossed flower of life symbol)
Made this painting as my father’s request, before he got very ill, he is mostly bed ridden nowadays, i made this painting for him 2 years ago. It was inspired by what he sees on his way to his office which he served for 30 years as a President on an engineering firm. I remember as a kid, playing in his office and waiting for him to be out from the office and i just cant stop gazing at the amazing sunsets that could be seen from his office window. He is a very workaholic and very generous person, he is not into material possessions and he takes care of the people he loves first above anything else, before looking for himself. I adore his unselfishness.
He never knew that i had the skill and passion for arts, not until i was already painting for 2 years, we don’t talk that much while i was growing up, i always though i was a failure to him, because i never followed his foot steps and i chose to go against his will. And for the first time in my life, having a serious conversation over the phone, he told me how surprised and proud he is for the man that i have become and it made a huge impact to me hearing those words from him, and i could not stop the tears of joy having moment with him. And from then on i make sure that i try my very best to keep that communication open with my kids and to remind them always how much i love them.
