This fried chicken burger was so good I missed the celebrity (Daniel Kaluuya) sitting at the table across from us.
This tortilla, with prawns and manchego, deserves to be immortalized in a piece of writing. In my life, which in the past couple of years has most closely resembled a tragic comedy, I’d say that this inspiration is a welcome change. 🍳: When we’re at @afternoonrestaurant
we want all the shakshuka & poached eggs they have! The Shakshuka is served with warm, crispy sourdough toast, and we can’t get enough of the poached eggs with squash, cornbread & brown butter hollandaise. Safe to say we’d have brunch at afternoon, any time of the day!
I wish more people would share about how much we all suck at the beginning.
I have a medical degree, work experience, skills and was applying to all sorts of jobs for months. However no matter how much proficient I might be in surgery, anything new will come as a surprise. And these weeks were definitely a struggle and a surprise.
I struggled to keep up with the pace everyone seemed to do things and to finish my check lists. I struggled to keep myself running errands around the wards. I struggled to balance my working placement hospital hours with my fitness placement hours. I struggled to get food in in between patients and to run to the toilet without seeming too obvious. I struggled to have time to train and that I had to cut down on the number of workouts.
I was surprised of how much better and proficient I was by the end of only one week. Surprised of how supportive and amazing my team is. I was surprised that I could still fit in my clothes after eating so much food during sponsored lunch meetings (YAS for sushi. And burgers. And brownies. And cakes. YAS for future lunch again today). Surprised that I actually enjoyed every single day drinking my usual almond latte and was craving for it even ✌️
Many times we think that nothing has changed, but when we look back everything has changed. Many times we criticise ourselves for not doing this and that, that we haven't achieved anything but if we really go back in time, we can see how many things we have done and how proud we should be of ourselves.
