Happy Hump Day!! I hope you’re not as tired this week as me and my Ziggy boy! I just wanted to share with all of you who are waiting to apply next round with some tips with what you can start doing now to work on your application. I hope it helps 😊 :
☑️ make an account with CASPA right NOW! The sooner the better! Start putting in as much information as you can before you forget the important details. The more exposure you gain with the website, the easier it will be when you are applying. So set up an account (it’s free) and input all your information as you gain it. Everything you input will transfer over from once cycle to the next so it won’t be lost. Write about the PA you shadowed, the school you volunteered at, your study abroad experience, etc.
☑️ Do some easy GRE prep in your down time. Download the @Magoosh
apps (they’re free!) and flip through some flash cards just so that you’re studying for the GRE without even realizing it. Is a great way to learn some vocabulary, math formulas, and test taking tips.
☑️ If you learned Spanish or French in high school, try the @Duolingo
app (also free!) this is a great way to refresh on your language skills, you’ll be surprised at how much you actually remember. It seems like extra work, but you’ll be able add a second language to your application and actually have some good practice in studying it. Plus it’s actually a really fun app!
☑️ Join some PA and Pre-PA groups on Facebook, Instagram, etc. And connect with other people to see what advice they have. You will learn so much just from reading posts and comments from others. I also really think the website physicianassistantforum.com is a really great resource to explore. Definitely give it a look
☑️ Research schools on the PA directory http://directory.paeaonline.org just try to learn about different schools and their curriculum, teaching styles, rotations, and their location. The more you learn, the easier your decision about which schools you want to apply to will be.
