Katharina Grosse ‘Ingres Wood’ represented by @gagosian
“For Katharina Grosse, paint is a medium through which to compress reality. Using a spray gun, she diffuses explosive color across space itself, documenting thought and gesture in complexe layers. In this special exhibition for FIAC 2018, the perceptual possibilities of Grosse’s painting are made evident in vastly different surfaces and textures - works on paper, tree trunks, and fabric. ‘Ingres Wood (2018) is a large-scale, spray-painted installation comprising segments of a huge tree trunk piled over voluminous draped by Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres when he was director of Villa Medici, in order to frame an ancient statue of Dea Roma. In recent exhibition at Villa Medici - for which the work on view has been adapted- Grosse brought sections of the tree indoors to create a sculptural armature for an in situ painting. Thus the classical tradition of harmonising painting, sculpture, gardens, and architecture was pushed to a new extreme. In Grosse’s work, there are no distinctions between the arts; they are constantly unfolding in synchrony.”

"It doesn't matter if it's just taking an order, and listening to the guy that's having a bad day, or recognizing that a guy is a little off because he's got things going on at home. We all have things on the inside that we may be struggling with, and just learning to care and to love and to reach out and to be a friend, and not just a business partner, but to take the relationship beyond a sales order and invoice." - Mark, NW Arkansas Manager⠀

All roads lead to the Petit Palais
I’ve been walking around Santa Fe, New Mexico, taking in its pueblo-style architecture.
Here is a place with a long and storied past, and such a colourful, artistic present.
This area was occupied for at least several thousand years by indigenous peoples, the Tewa. Oldest state capital, Santa Fe was founded by Spanish colonists in 1610.
The amount of quality museums and galleries is breathtaking. Tips where to start anyone?
Gabriel Dawe (born 1973) is a Mexican-born artist whose work is based on investigations of the visible spectrum of light. He has gained renown for his Plexus series.
Dawe's Plexus series are large-scale networks of sewing thread that are investigations of the visible spectrum of light. They are often site-specific, temporary commissions that the artist transforms into compacted displays of thread he calls relics when the exhibitions are over.
