Oh Stan...💔 I owe you so much.
It was through your books that I learned & developed a love for reading as did so many kids worldwide. And even if we've gone on to read what some may consider "real" books & love them, we've always came back to comic books. In fact I don't think we've ever left. As a writer I owe most of what I know about storytelling & cliffhanger writing from comic books & you. That proved to be invaluable when writing my tv & movie screenplays.
As a human being I owe you everything. From the great values your heroes instilled in me to the "home" you provided to so many of us who were dealing with problems in our lives.
You were so inclusive & welcoming. Making a point to talk to us like old friends & alerting us to the danger of not standing up to evil. You made us feel like all of us could be heroes & achieve our dreams if we just believed.
Whether it was family problems, peer pressure, bullying or heartbreak, you were always there for us with books/characters that we could relate to, where we could transport & feel something other than pain.
It's ironic that you left us today because today more than ever I appreciate it all. Today more than any other day I allow myself to miss you & your books.
Stan, you gave us a safe place.
That can never be repayed or forgotten. In this cruel world you had the biggest super powers: love & empathy. And you were the greatest super-hero of them all. Rest assured...you did a good thing. Farewell, dear Stan!🙏🏼💛 #ripstanlee #excelsior #stanlee @therealstanlee @marvel @marvelstudios #marvel #empathy #writers #love #inspiration #comicbooks #safeplace
