“When I set eating windows for myself, I feel as though I am taking my problematic relationship with food by the horns. I am in control. With disordered eating habits, it’s easy to feel like you have no power.” Click the link in my bio for the full post!!
Crab cakes - @walrusoysterandale
it’s served with mashed potatoes and some type of veggie maybe squash and carrots. We just didn’t eat that part. You just make it work. Just because something is on your plate doesn’t mean you are forced to eat it! That’s like thinking that just because you’ve done the laundry, it will put itself away🤦🏽♀️ that only makes about 37% sense but I wanted to say it 😂 Someone serves you something, no need to freak out and stand on the table and announce “I AM KETO” just eat what you can from the plate and keep it moving! Lol. I feel like all I do these days is talk keto, but it’s all most people usually ask me about. 🤷🏻♀️ You can do keto without special accommodations and being high maintenance. Just order something as close to plan as possible and when it arrives eat as closely to it as you can. ✅
Crab Dip from @walrusoysterandale
- pretty good! It’s served with bread, but we just use a fork 😎
🍏With the explosion of gut-related health content and news, you’ve most likely heard that gut bacteria are important.🍏 But, why? And what should you do about it? 🍓🍓🍓 The Why.
We all have gut bacteria. Bacteria help to run many processes in the body from the breakdown of food to the production of neurotransmitters. What causes many health problems is an imbalance in the type of bacteria you have in your gut.
There is a delicate balance of bacteria in your gut. Some studies have show that people with depression symptoms have a depletion in certain types of gut bacteria.
Bacteria are living organisms. Just like an ecosystem of animals, they need food to survive and can be killed off by predators. The food you eat, feeds gut bacteria. If you eat overprocesed, chemically enhanced food you may end up killing off a lot of your gut bacteria and upset the balance.
An imbalance my lead to leaky gut, IBS and even impact your mental health.
What should you do about this?
Certain foods can help to balance your gut bacteria.
For example, if you regularly consume Kefir you can encourage beneficial bacteria to populate your gut. Kefir is a fermented beverage that is full of nutrients and beneficial lactobacilli.
You can make many fermented foods at home such a Kombucha, Saukerkraut and Kimchi. Kefir is easy to make and will provide you with an ongoing source be beneficial bacteria once you start making it. 😁

This is my 100th post! I thought I would take this opportunity to re-introduce myself and give some insight on what is to come.
I'm Nathan aka “UnAthlete”. I wasn't born an athlete. I don't have years of experience with training or any kind of athletic history or genealogy. Although I am an unlikely athlete, I am putting in the work to be the best I can be. If I can do this, so can you!
I'm a cancer survivor who has lost around 70lbs and currently training for Ironman Florida (November 2nd). I'm a cancer and thyroid disease advocate and I'm here to help others turn their life around to be healthier and happier.
More to come: 1.) I am launching my blog: www.unathlete.com which will be a central location for all things health and fitness as well as my story and the UnAthlete group. It's quasi functional right now but is still under construction.
2.) More in depth posts about health and fitness including my version of the ketogenic diet, triathlon, training, fighting cancer, thyroid and autoimmune diseases.
3.) More cool gear! I'll be doing some product reviews and maybe even some sweet giveaways.
4.) More fun/humorous stuff. I love to laugh!
5.) Follow my journey to become an Ironman and hopefully stay cancer free!
Thanks to all my followers. Many are fighting cancer, thyroid diseases, or other autoimmune and chronic diseases. Just know that if you can't get out and be active that I run for you. If you can, get out and put in the work today! You will be glad you did!
Any communication from me is not meant to be considered medical advice. I'm not a doctor, I'm an energy consultant. 😜
New keto finds of the week
I ordered the Good Good Sweet Jam from @naturamarketca
and it’s it’s absolutely delicious. Perfect level of sweetness and clean ingredients. I spread some of the strawberry jam on a keto waffle and I felt like I was in carb heaven.I really want to make some PB&J fat bombs but I can’t be trusted around peanut butter😬 Really exited the Comte cheese. I have been wanting to switch from eating pasteurized cheese to eating raw milk cheese. It’s surprisingly hard to find raw milk cheese in Canada so I am hoping I fall in love with it.
Last but not least I found some Hunts tomato sauce that have the same amount of carbs as my favourite PC black label brand for a fraction of the price. I am going to have to see how it tastes but the ingredients are good and the price is right. I oddly get so much joy from finding new products to eat😁
I love smoothie bowls, especially with my favorite post workout spirulina and banana smoothie. You should try adding your favorite granola and goodies on top of your favorite post workout smoothie:) no regrets here and a full tummy 🍌✌️
