(Pst, it's not a video, just a screenshot of a paused video.) Long post warning.
This exact moment has been on my mind a lot lately. My first ever win and in the female absolute bracket, at that. A total of 6 girls signed up, two white belts, three blue belts and a purple belt, of all different weights. A no stripe white belt, at the time, tied for third place amongst blue and purple belts. I still can't believe I actually got the win. I won due to points because tapping her was the last thing on my mind. I can still recall the last minute and a half of the match thinking 1) how is this roll not over yet?! 2) There's no way I'm actually winning this and 3) Maybe I am better than what I give myself credit for. I found out after the fact that the score person didnt start the timer until 2ish minutes into the match. So we ended up with a near 7 minute match when they were only supposed to be 5 minutes, which is why the roll felt like it took forever! I lost the next match to a blue belt, but i walked away feeling accomplished, nonetheless. I'm disappointed for not having the time to compete since the beginning of July, but I plan out getting out there this winter as much as I can. There's just so many emotions that go along with just this one picture i can't even put them into words. I can't even begin to thank everyone enough who has supported me and kicked my ass along the way. 😂 it means a lot to me! That smile says it all!
