Arrogance: May Allah save us and protect our hearts from pride and arrogance. Aameen 🥀
According to the Holy Qur’an, pride is a sin that will most certainly be severely punished.
The Almighty Allah says in Surah az-Zumar (Verse 60) “Is there not in Hell an abode for the proud?” (Surah az-Zumar 39:60)
He also says: “It shall be said: Enter the gates of hell to abide therein; so evil is the abode of the proud.” (Surah az-Zumar 39:72)
In Surah Ghafīr (Verse 35) Almighty Allah remarks, “Thus does Allah set a seal over the heart of every proud, haughty one.” (Surah Ghafīr 40: 35)
The one who considers himself to be the best wants others to know that he is the best.
“O you who believe! Let not (one) people laugh at (another) people perchance they may be better than they, nor let women laugh at (other) women, perchance they may be better than they; and do not find fault with your own people nor call one another by nick names; evil is a bad name after faith, and whoever does not turn, these it is that are the unjust.” (Surah al-Hujurāt 49:11)
Abdullah ibn Mas’ud reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “No one who has the weight of a seed of arrogance in his heart will enter Paradise.” Someone said, “But a man loves to have beautiful clothes and shoes.” The Prophet said, “Verily, Allah is beautiful and He loves beauty. Arrogance means rejecting the truth and looking down on people.” [Source: Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 91]
