”I had to make this post because they added the Zeitgeist film on Netflix. It seems like no matter how much the "Jesus is a copy of pagan gods" claim has been debunked these arguments will still be brought up in order to try to discredit the man Jesus. Nowadays most Atheists won't dare to use these arguments again. Today however these arguments are heavily used by New Agers and those in the Black Consciousness /Kemetic movement. Christians please take some notes on this because you will encounter people in the future making these arbitrary claims. I will cover Horus first.
Was Horus born on December 25th? No. It is said that Horus was born during the month of Khoiak (See: Traditional Festivals: A Multicultural Encyclopedia pg. 223). Also the biblical text does not say that Jesus was born on December 25th.
Another claim you would hear is that Horus was baptized by someone named Anup the Baptizer. However there is no Egyptian scholar who has ever heard of Anup the Baptizer.
Did Horus had 12 disciples? No. Some legends say that Horus had four followers (See: The Gods of Egypt pg. 61) and some just say that he had an untold amount of metal workers (See: The Centre of Ancient Civilization pg. 231-232). Did Horus perform miracles? Of course but that would be expected from any deity. However there is no evidence that Horus was known to have walked on water or raise Osiris from the dead. Osiris did not come back to life but he remained in the underworld to serve as god of the dead (See: Conceptions of God in Ancient Egypt pg. 233)
There's no evidence that Horus was crucified, dead for three days and was resurrected.
Was Horus born of a virgin? No. Horus' mother Isis was not a virgin. She was actually married to Horus' father Osiris. One legend has Isis sleeping with the dead body of Osiris and Horus was conceived from that (See: Plutarch "Isis and Osiris" 65). Horus was born in a swamp (See: Adonis, Attis, Osiris pg. 8). There's no evidence of a star in the east and that there were three wise men visited Horus during his birth. Also the biblical text doesn't say that there were three wise men who visited Jesus
