Taco Tuesday for the win! 💪 what is on your plate this week?!
I haven't traveled very much -- it's something I definitely want to do more of after our wedding. But out of the few places I've been, I miss New Orleans the most. The music, the people, the history, the FOOD. So with my recent craving for Louisiana, I obviously had to make some Cajun gumbo. 👉 chicken, compliant Cajun chicken sausage, shrimp, bell pepper, celery, onion, okra, diced tomatoes, cajun seasoning, beef bone broth. The really complicated instructions? Dump all of it, except for shrimp, in a crock pot on low for 7 hours. Add shrimp and cook another ten or so minutes. I plopped it over cauliflower rice. Celebrate.
The restaurant is a blink-and-you-miss-it type place. They speak more Spanish and less English. And take cash only. Which pretty much means the food will be pretty damn delicious, and if I really like you, I’ll take you there sometime. 🍽
This is not a drill. 🛑 This is Whole30 compliant Fettuccine Alfredo and it is insanely delicious. I’ve seen several Whole30, dairy-free cream sauces out there but they all seem to be made with cashews, which is a no-go in my house due to my son’s nut allergy. Enter @detoxinista
with a cauliflower Alfredo sauce (the simple recipe is on her blog). My family was SUPER skeptical but lo and behold, they all cleaned their plates and claimed it tasted just like the real thing. You could up the flavor even more by adding some Parmesan to the sauce before blending. It wouldn’t be Whole30 but it would still be low carb and Keto. I served it over spaghetti squash with sliced seared chicken and basil. So good!

I took an awesome and well needed Pound Class AND go an amazing update from someone in my last Whole30 group who has lost 60lbs and is KILLING IT in his food freedom. I'm such a proud mama bird.
M1 - hot dog in ghee w a banana and almond butter.
M2 - shredded chicken, potatoes, spinach, more ghee.
M3 - shredded chicken again, spinach again, guac.
I shopped today and tomorrow will prep some tomorrow, I'm scraping the sides to make meals the past couple days since I burnt, dropped, and otherwise ruined half of my weekend prep.

These little pieces of heaven have such a high concentration of dark chocolate it really is so satisfying. You wouldn’t even know these are actually meal plan appropriate.

Super easy, super quick lunch this week. I prepped the chicken yesterday, marinated it in lime juice, lime zest, and @jacobsensaltco
ghost chili sea salt. Today, I heated up the chicken, cooked down some kale, bell peppers, and onion with pepper, and threw 1/2 an avocado on my plate. 👌🏼 #uglydelicious
Do any of you use bullet journals or food logs to meal prep? I am a visual person, so I’ve found this to be such a useful tool. Of course life happens and everyday isn’t exactly as planned, but it’s been nice to follow a tentative plan (plus playing with markers and stickers doesn’t hurt 😉)

! We’re half way there and I’ve been craving anything and everything with melted cheese EVERY MOMENT.
Socializing and going out for food can be difficult when you’re on a reset/elimination cleanse like @whole30
but it IS DO-ABLE! You might get nervous about slipping up because you’re tempted to order something that isn’t compliant or you’re not 100% sure about the ingredients etc. Living in San Francisco makes it a little more do-able but if you’re not sure just keep it simple and play it safe! Along with my compliant chai tea latte thanks to @califiafarms
- I had a spring salad with olive oil, salt, pepper, sautéed mushrooms in olive oil and an egg! If I had been a little more prepared I would’ve brought some @tessemaes

We came. We saw. We taco’d. I’ll round up a list of my favorites places I visited in Austin including the official ranking of taco joints. (Side note: all tacos should be made with the delicious corn tortillas made down here, not any of that flour crap.) Y’all are the breakfast taco capital and did not disappoint. Thanks for all the Austin recommendations! We hit almost all of the attractions for sure. It was a jam packed 3 days! I love traveling, but it’s always nice to come home to your bed and your peeps. I’ll dream of these @torchystacos

70-80% of antibiotics sold in the US are given to animals and not humans. For decades, farmers have used antibiotics to fatten livestock; conventional farming also produce sick animals laden with bacteria/parasites requiring antibiotic treatments. .
When you eat meat containing antibiotics, it is affecting your gut bacteria and disrupting YOUR gut health (👉 if it fattens chickens what’s it doing to you?) .
The USDA requires that no antibiotics be given to animals in order to be certified organic, but there is a loop hole. .
Farmers can still inject antibiotics into eggs or chicks on its first day of life, and still label it USDA organic. So your organic chickens may still contain antibiotics unless it’s labelled ‘raised without antibiotics’. .
By the way, I know grass fed/pastured meat is all the craze now but that also doesn’t guarantee antibiotic free meat (unless it is certified by American Grassfed Association/or you know your farmers practices and trust them)... .

A lot of my meals during a Whole30 don’t require recipes. If you have the time to make gorgeous meals from scratch three times a day, then I’m happy for you. However, I definitely do not. I work 40 hours a week, have Army stuff to do on the side, and have two kids under two years old. This mama is busy! The only way I am able to manage a whole30 and a healthy way of eating afterwords is by keeping my meals simple, NOT perfect! This was dinner last night and lunch today (leftovers are key!). All I did was sauté up some @aidellssausage
