Comparisons. They begin the moment we are born.
Blah blah's baby is plumper, cuter, fairer, etc etc.
They continue throughout our lives. The kid in the family or friends circle who's the genius. The kid who us awesome at some sport. The kid who draws like Michelangelo. The thinker, the writer. And then the one we all hate, who excels at everything and is even good looking.
Fast forward to adult life. The girl who is an amazing cook, the one who has the spotless house, well mannered kids, career on spot and house on point. The one who gave birth but is thinner than us, the one who exclusively breastfed for 2 years. The one who has total control of her damn life.
Calling bullshit. Calling bullshit twice. What you see is what people have showed you. You do not see the hard work, the missed spots, the crappy workday, the tantrums, the day everyone had cereal or fries for dinner, the lovers spat, the depression, the pile of laundry, the fake smile for guests, the need for peace, the loneliness. All of it.
You don't know because they did not tell you.
Do not compare. You know nothing Jon Snow. (Said that because this was getting too serious.) Next time you see someone very put together, just know they have stuff going on in their life too, just like you are. They just prioritized looking very put together.
You did not. And that is ok. Tomorrow is your day.
