Every ring of my engagement set tells a different story. The ring on the bottom, closest to my knuckle, is one that Perry handcarved as a replica of a ring Mom gave me a billion years ago, each little knot represents one year that I lived without her while she was in prison (long story but I share a lot of it on my personal feed from time to time). The ring on top of that represents all the paths we’ve traveled. In his words, “We don't go down the paths placed before us — we've paved new ways, found new places, and explored beyond the boundaries of any love we've ever known. Through brush and branches, we’ve made our own trail.” Ugh. Swoon. The ring above that is THE ring, the one that holds all the magic of our proposal. The two tiny delicate rings above the engagement ring represent two little birds — inspired by Anaïs Nin (and the nickname he gave me, “little bird”) — where love is for life, like mourning doves, penguins, swans, and all the little birds filled with a world’s worth of big love.
I get to wear our love story on my finger, everything that flows from his heart on my hand where I can be reminded of it every time I look down. This is why we started Rhodes Wedding Co. in the first place — to tell these great love stories. And I’m so grateful to be sharing mine with you.
Thank you for being part of our story. Truly, it means everything to me.
I love you @perryrhodes.
Throw all your lucky coins on me, baby. Our love is for life.
