WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
Also called WOD or "Work Of The Day" & popular amongst the millenial generation, this style of training covers many aspects of physical exercise, & its focus on body conditioning with a sprinkle of...what the fuck are we training today.. makes it perfect for people who get easily bored with repetitive predictable routines.
Now, crossfit as well as TRX is not only a system of functional training but also a brand being the first property of CrossFit Inc. Also highly influenced by american Greg Glassman and it's said to have been used for the training of the policebody in California
Its main characteristic lies on it being much more intense in its process than general training methods, and also its progression divided into 3 main facets, building, flexibility and strenght while at the same time working on balance improvement...certainly a complete set of benefits huh?
It is a system of compound exercising, so in contrast to isolation techniques...you'll be working out many places at a time...booty gains + chest gains + oh bby good old shoulder gains...and so on..you get it.
To start & previous to it all there is a phase of stretching and general warm up.
Followed by the 1ST phase,
Which consists of strenght improvement and new ability conditioning. It is a phase where much of the general technique is being rehersed and its focused on strenght, reason why you'll be put to the test here with the most weight you can handle
And the later phase which is what is called commonly as the WOD, and referd as the MetCon due to its "Metabolic Conditioning".
Which consists of improvement of respiratory capacity, including both weight based training, less demanding than part A off course, as well as body weight and resistance exercises. (Crunches, PushUps, Jumps amongst others). AMRAP, EMOM & TABATA are 3 main routines here in MetCon Phase...but more on these on upcoming posts.
