Dominique Farria, 31, of Harvey, Louisiana was murdered on July 24, 2018 by her husband when he shot through the windshield of her car as she tried to escape.
Ray Farria Jr., 32, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder, possession of a weapon by a felon, and obstruction of justice for killing Dominique.
Ray Farria, who had been riding on the hood of the car for about a quarter of a mile in an apparent bid to stop Dominique from driving off, jumped off the vehicle and fired the fatal shot through his wife’s neck while the couple’s children were in the car, relatives told the Times-Picayune.
Dominique and Ray were high-school sweethearts and had four children together, three sons and one daughter — ranging in age from 1 to 11. They had been married for 12 years.
Authorities say Ray Farria had a history of violence, and at the time of his arrest he was a fugitive from justice on a three-year-old warrant for a domestic assault charge.
Three years ago, Farria was arrested for strangling Dominique after she went through his phone. He was arrested at the time, and released on bail, but he failed to show up to his next hearing.
Family members said Ray Farria frequently beat his wife, and for three years managed to evade the warrant for his arrest.
Dominique is remembered as a devoted mother who was giving and loving. Her aunt said she had “an ever-cheerful, bubbly presence. Even in her worst moments, you wouldn't even know. She always had a smile on her face.” Our thoughts are with her children and loved ones. Rest well Dominique...
