This program has taught me to do just that. I know I have stubborn fat in my midsection and that my body changes slowly. I wanted to say Thank you for everything during the #SummerSweat program and for the @crossfuelpureperformance products!! I can't wait to try them. When I entered your contest, I couldn't believe I won. I was so surprised and excited to see how this new journey would looked like. Having a training program, meal plan, logging my food/workout has taught me that being consistent and training hard really does pay off. (I will post my before/after the program photo tomorrow! It's so important to change the intensity by surprising your body with a new workout routine, increase weight, or repititon of your workouts as your body gets stronger to prevent a plateau. ๐Ÿ”น A change in your routine can totally shock your muscles and prevent adaptation. ๐Ÿ”น How often should you change up your workout routine, you ask? Change routine every 4-6 weeks ๐Ÿ”น After that, you'll want to rotate some new strength moves into your weight training routine. Example : new workout class, group training, Bootcamp, run outside, boxing, hiit cardio, crossfit and so on. ๐Ÿ”น Eventually you will need to make bigger changes, but first, start off small. ๐Ÿ”น You can perform more reps and sets using the same weight that you typically use. I brought my first @muscleandfitnesshers magazine I ever purchased was with Amanda on the cover. We chatted for a bit and yes, I was fan girlin and yes she signed it. Thanks so much for making my morning today. This was awesome. I kept this magazine like it was my workout bible. Reading every page, learning the exercise name, how to complete them, how many reps, what a workout plan looked like, and example of a meal plans. When I saw this magazine in the store I was amazed at how beautiful she looked, I wanted to workout to get a body like that. It made me realize how far I have come and how much more I will learn throughout my journey. It's Monday! You know what that means! a new workout week to crush!! Today's workout was focused on Back + Arms ended it off with HIIT Cardio. A change in scenery is always the best way to mix up your workout. It can motivate you and make you work harder. You can get a great workout wherever you are, if you live close to a park, school with a track, a neighbourhood with winding roads, or hills are great alternatives than being stuck in a stinky, dark gym (I guess that's just my gym..๐Ÿ˜‘) running outside today made cardio not boring. We did just under 5k. Remember to keep hydrated, wear sunscreen, have a hat or sunglasses, bring your headphones and phone or music with you. Do you love music? ๐Ÿ’œ I do too!! Do you know what I love about music? I love the way music makes you feel, the way it brings you back to that specific point in time and place when you first heard a specific song. The melody, the bass riffs, the guitar solos, the drumming rhythms. I don't know about you but I'm basically a one piece band, I'll sing, do backup vocals, play drums and sing the solos haha it's the best thing ever ๐Ÿ’• I love that music can change the mood, it can make you happy, angry, sad, want to sing out loud or dance the night away. I love listening to music when I'm at the gym because it makes me feel pumped. If you haven't noticed by now I listen to heavy metal, thrash, rock, alternative genres. To me this style of music makes my heart beat as fast as the double base, gets me focused and pushes me for that last rep. Excuse my shyness and low talking ๐Ÿ™ˆ turn up the volume if needed ๐Ÿ”Š For those of you who have been following me throughout my contest winning of @courtneytidona #SummerSweat program + @crossfuelpureperformance supplements. I finally made a video of my week 1-3 recap. WEEK 1 Excited and dedicated. Ready to crush it. Got my plan on Tuesday, went out to buy groceries and supplements to start Wednesday morning. First week was hard as I never been on a PROGRAM where I was given full instruction. I've tried bodybuilding programs but never followed through. I really wanted to work hard this time. My meals during week one were ok. I found I had to adjust the flavour, I ate tilapia, basa, salmon and tofu. I was feeling good from day 1-3 and then I started to get really hungry. I couldn't wait for my refeed meal. And let me tell you when I got there it was so damn good. My first week in training was tough trying to adjust and get everything done during my lunch break. WEEK 2 I was focus until I got to Tuesday when I didn't have chance to eat my second meal and third meal. I caved in and got a burger and fries but only ate half of it. it actually sucked lol I didn't want it / felt bad for even ordering it. Got back on track Wednesday-Thursday then for lunch on Friday and Saturday, I had a z-teca bowl. Sunday rolled in and I felt horrible as I know this was a lesson for myself and I shouldn't be so hard on myself as I got right back on track afterwards. WEEK 3 I prepped my meals for Monday and Tuesday of this week and feel like I am back on track. Don't want to slip up again. Progress photos will be posted tomorrow - stay tuned!! Shoulder + ab workout. It was super packed at the gym today after work and it seemed like everyone was on shoulder day. Most of the dumbbells were missing, benches and machines were all being used.. One thing I did (which I'm getting better at) was to stand my ground in a certain spot at the gym. I feel at times because I'm small and a women, I get pushed around to move over or looked at until I finish my set. It's intimidating and demotivating. That happened to me yesterday and it was annoying. I can see them in the mirror just eyeing me down and waiting for me to move, finish my set so they can do theirs.. How about come back? Or ask me if I'm almost done and come back.. ๐Ÿ˜‘ Instead they just stand there, clearly talking about me in their language or stare at me and wait close by. When the gym is packed and machines are being used there are always alternatives to each workout. So I do my best to make sure I complete all exercises, sets, and reps in my program. I find that when I'm on a program, I'm focused that I'm looking at my form, concentrating on my breathing, counting out my reps and making sure I take the appropriate rests at the right time. Then the power went out. I was able to get my shoulder and abs workout in but no cardio. Don't decrease the goal. Increase the effort. Your only limit is YOU. This morning at the gym, I finished my workout. Ive always wanted to try the box jump but was intimidating by the height of it. I started to doubt myself by thinking that I couldn't do it, it's too high, instead I'll just go stretch now.. I told my man, he said no you can do it.. I walked back over, rolled it out a bit and laid it on its lowest height first.. To try.. JUMP!! Whaa, I did it!!! I was so happy. Ok maybe I can do this! After a few reps I flipped it to a medium level. This was way higher. I couldn't wrap my brain around on how my feet were going to make it on top of the box in time when I jump. I told myself I got the first one, I can maybe get this one. JUMP, omg, I did it??!!! I had to ask to get this one video because I was so proud of myself for actually trying. Thanks to my man for keeping me grounded and telling me that I can do and believing in me always. ๐Ÿ˜˜ What I learned today is even though we fall into that self doubt (like I did) we must push through it and actually try because when we do we learn how to achieve it and amazing things happen. Fear = Fear Everything And Rise. The Choice Is Yours. I used to fear the "bar", lifting heavy, using Dumbbells. I used to think women shouldn't left heavy because it will make you bulky I didn't want that big masculine look, I wanted to be "lean and mean" or "shredded". Until one day I realized that it would take years for me to even become bodybuilder big and that I was stopping myself from achieving my goals, setting a lower standard and not believing in myself.
