Should she be charged or a committee is enough? 'Everything that I have to say has already been said in the public realm,' says former premier
The Canadian Press
is speaking today with a government committee set-up to review how her Liberal government controlled Ontario's finances during its time in office.
Former Ontario premier Kathleen Wynne is testifying at a committee tasked with probing her Liberal government's accounting practices.
, whose Progressive Conservatives won a majority in June, announced the committee in September, days after his finance minister said Ontario was facing a $15 billion deficit.
Critics have disputed the deficit figure and slammed the work of the committee as politically-motivated.
Wynne is expected to discuss her government's plan to reduce hydro rates and its accounting practices around a pair of pension plans — both of which were at the centre of a dispute with the province's auditor general.
The fiscal watchdog said the Liberal regime's accounting practices on those matters meant it had understated the province's deficit by billions.
Wynne has said she will co-operate with the work of the Select Committee for Fiscal Transparency but has said its members should not expect any startling revelations.
"Everything that I have to say has already been said in the public realm. I'm happy to say it again at the committee," she said last week.
The committee is calling witnesses and gathering evidences for a final report expected later this month.

If the NDP couldn’t win the 2018 provincial election with the Liberal party not even in contention and the PCs ousting their leader for sexual assault allegations (still clearly a problem for them), electing a new leader and having no platform, they apparently can’t win an election in Ontario. Seriously NDP what else do you need to win? New polling shows even the Liberal party is favoured more than you, and they don’t even have party status. Clearly the NDP need a new leader - sorry Andrea Horwath, but you ain’t it chief. Here’s looking at you Sara Singh, Marit Stiles and John Vanthof.🥂
"You're one of the organizations that make that multicultural society work, and people don't necessarily know what you do. You are hidden heroes." Thank you, @kathleen_wynne

One week. One week and I realize how much I actually hate this city. In #Europe
they build stuff to last. This is effing Dufferin road. They have been redoing the road for like 7 years or more. Now they have decided the effing sidewalks need redoing. The sidewalks! We came here, commited #genocide
(who built and did everything with 7 generations in mind) and then decided to keep polluting the fuck out of the world by rebuilding everything every 7 months. Other than the diversity of #Toronto
(which is beautiful) this city actually sucks. #Ontario
sucks too, good job everyone in wining about and getting rid of progressive #KathleenWynne
and putting in that ugly piece of shit #DougFord
. All anyone cares about here is money and climbing the corporate ladder. I can't even deal with how greedy, stupid and truly primitive we are. I've acually finally realized that I truly want to move far away from here

I picked up “The Little Red Schoolbook” today. This text was banned after its 1969 publication for its promotion of controversial topics and its message to challenge societal norms, which was geared towards school children. It was written by two Danish authors, Søren Hansen and Jesper Jensen. What fascinates me most about their audience and their message was the fact that they were teachers themselves.
I don’t agree with every concept in this text, but as teachers we know better than to judge a whole for its parts. What resonates with me, though, is the topic of sexual education. If you live in Ontario or are informed about our politics, you may know about the current conversation surrounding sexual education curriculum. The curriculum was revised in 2015 for the first time since 1998 under premier Kathleen Wynne, and includes topics such as homosexuality, gender normativity and updated information about sexually transmitted diseases. With new leadership in power, the push has been to revise back to the original curriculum. Discussions like these make “The Little Red Schoolbook” seem highly relevant today.
I’m curious about your opinions regarding the Ontario Curriculum, and sexual education in general. Are these topics too “radical” for the classroom, or are they relevant enough to be discussed with our students? What is our responsibility as educators when it comes to topics such as these? What is included in sexual education in your state / province / board, and what is the conversation surrounding it?

Okay so my video editing app is not exporting sound for some reason so please excuse the quality of these. ( taking suggestions for new apps) Friday night was and end of an era. The final #bitchsalad @buddiesto
what a way to go! A lineup comprised of headliners in their own right. Doing some of their best work. I love any show with a large crowd and yet intimate energy. winning and keeping a crowd like that was something that could only be done by comedians who’s work was polished to a level that comes from simply working a whole lot. There was one moment I did not catch on video but would be amiss not to mention @jackiepirico
killed. I am always blown away at Jackie’s ability to develop material so quickly and integrate it into her act with that humble incomparable magnetism. The show closed out in a perfect way @gavinkcrawford
performing his imfamous #kathleenwynne
impression for the final time. It was a satirical swan song complete with wig flip I felt privileged to witness. @mandrewbrawnston
closed it out and spoke from the heart. Proving that although Bitch salad maybe over whatever Johnston’s next endeavour is it will no doubt encompass that same cunning witty energy that made Bitch salad a success. #torontocomedy #pride #torontopride #buddiesinbadtimestheatre #sketchcomedy #comedyblogger #youngemodernlaughs
Kathleen Wynne - thank you for being such a bad ass groundbreaker! You accomplished many wonderful things while in office, but the number one thing you did for me was set an example for women and the #LGBTQ
community that we CAN lead and we WILL be heard! #kathleenwynne #onpoli
