I can’t believe I’ll be approaching two years of #BBG
in just a few months
I remember when I first told my boyfriend I had purchased the BBG guide and his response was “Was it really worth spending the money? Won’t it be another thing you’ll give up?” I know this sounds really discouraging of him but he had a point. I had started and given up on so many different programmes over the years that I’d probably throw in the towel on this too
To be honest I think his words fuelled my fire somewhat, but there was also something different about this programme, at least for me. It was easy to follow, it didn’t require me to follow some crazy diet and, given that it could be done in 30 minutes from my living room, it left me with no excuses
BBG for me has been about more than changing my size and shape. It’s opened up a world of opportunity, allowed me to become mentally more strong and helped me to realise my biggest passion - fitness
One day I can see myself turning this into more than just a hobby and I have @kayla_itsines
to thank for that, as well as all of the amazing women I have met through this community who I would now call my friends

Something I always have to remember is I’m doing way better than I have in the past. I won’t lie these last few weeks eating on the road has been rough. I’ve had multiple orders screwed up, eating at late hours, or in situations where ordering my own food separately just isn’t an option. Despite how many snacks I pack I’m learning to accept every day isn’t going to be perfect and I might be eating more or worse than intended. I’m doing the best I can and in the past if I ate ONE bad thing my whole day was shot and I’d eat everything bad for the rest of the day. So I need to remember even though there may be set backs in my day I’ve taken huge steps to get where I am 💪🏻❤️ #balance #bingefree

I don’t have toast or tacos to share, but I do have some delicious pasta! 🍝 I decided the only way to make pesto pasta better is to add on some warm gooey roasted tomatoes. I just love mixing it all up together. 😋 This is made with @eatbanza
rotini, vegan pesto (recipe below) and gooey roasted tomatoes (method below).🍅
▶️ To make the pesto: In a food processor, blend up about 3 cups of fresh basil (not tightly packed), juice from one lemon, 2-3 chopped garlic cloves, pinch of salt, and 1/3 cup of pine nuts (or raw almonds or raw walnuts). Add in 1/4 cup avocado or extra virgin olive oil and blend until it’s well combined but not too smooth. You can also try tossing in a couple tablespoons of nutritional yeast or hemp seeds if you’d like.💚
▶️ To make the roasted tomatoes, simply preheat your oven to 350°F, place the tomatoes (cherry or small on-the-vine) on parchment and bake for about 15 minutes, or until they are soft and wrinkly. You can add salt or oil if you’d like, but I prefer them without. Some juice will likely ooze out onto the parchment. Add them to your pasta and enjoy!💚

One thing you need to know about me is that I walk EVERYWHERE 🏃🏼♀️🏃🏼♀️🏃🏼♀️ I’d rather walk an hour outside than get in a cab or be crammed on the subway (as long as I’m not in heels 👠😂).
Physically, I love that I can fit some extra movement into my day (especially after sitting at my desk all day). Mentally, it’s a great way for me to clear my mind and get some fresh air (or call my mom on the way 👋🏻😆)
Yesterday I walked 50 minutes to the gym, was able to see V I E W S like this one, and had already walked 3.1 miles before I even stepped foot on the treadmill. By the end of the day, I’d walked 5.5 miles and clocked in two more miles on the treadmill.

So today is my #Kaylaversary
, so buckle up, insta...cause I’ve got a lot to say. This past year has been a complete 360 for me. It’s been so full of so many positive changes, and I can’t help but feel so incredibly grateful for so many things. I’m grateful for the girl I was a year ago. A girl who was uncomfortable in her own skin and who had no genuine self confidence, because on this day last year she decided that she didn’t want to feel that way anymore. She finally had enough and decided to make a change and never look back. I’m grateful for @kayla_itsines
, her program and community, because for every burpee, squat, push-up, and box jump (among so many other things 😅) I learned how strong I was, what my body was capable of, and how mentally strong I was in the moments I wanted to quit the most. .
I was a distance swimmer all through high school and college, but after I stopped competitive swimming in 2015, I hadn’t found what worked for me, and I had a track record of starting diets and workout routines and quitting before I even had time to see any progress. In the first 12 weeks my only goal was to show up everyday. I never thought I’d enjoy it enough to stick with it for a whole year 🤷🏻♀️
I’m not afraid to admit that the main reason I started BBG was to lose weight and have a crazy transformation photo like the ones I saw online. I always thought people who said that this program changed more than their physical appearance were just being cheesy & dramatic...but it did for me, and it came at a time when I desperately needed a positive change. I’ve worked so hard to create a new lifestyle for myself, and I’m so proud of how much my body has changed, but nothing beats the feeling of finally loving yourself, and being confident in your own skin after years of insecurity & trying to hide. It feels like freedom. .
This last year has been my year. I’ve become the best version of myself. I’m not where I want to be yet, but I’ve learned to trust the process and just enjoy the journey! It’s worth it✨🌟🍾💕

dairy-free vanilla yogurt (1.5 cups) with some frozen berries (3/4 cup), pour into popsicle molds, top with your favorite granola, add some popsicle sticks, freeze for at least 5-6 hours or overnight! Makes 5 pops! #spreadgoodfood

Weight is not always the best way to determine progress or health. Between these two images, I have gained about 3 lbs! There is nothing wrong with gaining weight and it doesn’t mean you are backtracking. In fact, I am achieving my goal of gaining muscle. •

programs for over 2 years now. I still love them! I would say the the original bikini body guide is perfect for slimming down. Then, the stronger program helps to build muscle. They are both wonderful and I’d recommend either depending on your personal goal! Also, she just announced a stronger 3.0! I am so excited and will be doing that for sure:). •

EXERCISE. IS. MEDICINE. Not only is this a global health initiative that the ACSM encourages, but is the complete truth, and something that *hopefully* more doctors and medicinal professionals begin to discuss with their patients. Basically the idea is that exercise and physical activity promote health and wellbeing and is super important in prevention and treatment of various medical conditions. I’ve talked about it before, exercise is beneficial to you 99.99% of the time, and adaptations can be made. What most people don’t know is that just 150 minutes of exercise a week can DRASTICALLY reduce your need for medications, and may help you get off of them forever. High blood pressure meds, cholesterol meds, you name it. It’s also associated with better moods! Why wouldn’t anyone want to exercise?
