Walking composition. One of the people I interviewed last year talked about the discrepancy between how powerless people feel to effect change versus how much power they truly have. The power of coming together and acting has really come to light, for me, in the work to protect public lands. Others don’t know how much freedom we’d lose without public lands access, and the work of those who keep it public. #walkinglife#keepitpublic
Arch Canyon, included in the original Bears Ears National Monument, retained partial protection in the The Shash Jáa National Monument.
Arch Canyon extends from Elk Ridge near #bearsears and empties into Comb Wash. It is home to a number of archaeological sites, including a Chacoan great house and remnants of prehistoric roads. It is surprising its protection was sustained as it is an area that has been a focal flashpoint of the motorized access debate. Whatever the reason, we are grateful, as this is a spectacular canyon that should be protected. The areas cut from protection are equally exceptional in archeological and scenic values and are deserving of conservation.#conservation#aerialphotography#aviation#environmentalairforce#redrockcanyon#keepitpublic

Cliven Bundy regards himself as a patriot. We’re here to tell you he’s stolen from the American people. When you don’t pay your federal grazing fees, you benefit unfairly from our public lands. He’ll be in Montana this weekend to talk about “Freedom & Property”. We’ll be there to remind those that would take our public lands into their own hands that the freedom of the 640 million acres we collectively own is for *every* red-blooded American. The many, not the few. Details in our profile 🇺🇸 📸: @nkqualtieri#KeepItPublic#PublicLandOwner
A famous landmark and tourist destination, Sitka's Russian Orthodox Church shines in the bright morning sun. From downtown, you can see Indian River Valley's beautiful forests, trails, and the Sisters mountains. All are accessible and free of charge thanks to our public lands. If you come visit Sitka, be sure to spend some time exploring the Tongass National Forest that surrounds us.

Desert landscape #1 looking down from the black mountains near Epaulet peak and hill 2860
We awoke that morning to a hard freeze on the tents, but just outside awaited the steaming waters of a natural hot spring. Just as the sun started to light up the sky, we jumped in the water and watched the show about to take place. The rolling sage brush hills that surrounded us provided the perfect foreground for the alpenglow that was about to light up the nearby Steens mountain range in South Eastern Oregon...it was glorious.
Once we packed up, we set off to wrap up our 5 day road trip. Leading up to the Steens, we were greeted with scenery I can only compare to having seen in Iceland and Alaska before. As we turned this corner, the awesome sight of the Alvord desert appeared before us, inspiring awe. I pulled the car to the side of the road (this was one of those moments where I had to stop). I scrambled up a steep incline (the red volcanic rock under foot) that led to a better vantage point well above the road and was greeted with this view.
One thing I know for sure is that Oregon is calling my name and I have a whole list of new areas I want to go explore. If you get the chance, head out to the remote high desert of South Eastern Oregon...it's an experience you won't soon forget!
Artemis Co-Founder @alexis_bonogofsky doesn't mince words when it comes to the protection of our public lands. "The thought that we can be in a situation where our public lands are sold to the highest bidder makes me irate." - We couldn't agree more Alexis!! 🎥 Link in bio🎞 📸: @krismillgate

I’ll be going LIVE on here tonight 8pm central and will be joined by @jessepkurt of Sd’ BHA chapter to talk about what is happening in South Dakota and the possible loss of access to water on the eastern side of the state.
