**Food Stories** A southern state of India, Kerala, rich and renowned for its spices & coconuts is where my existence belongs too. When it comes to food, my place has its own stand in the globe because that much are the varieties we have in our food shelves, either veg or non-veg!! Despite of all the food variants & rich aroma of our spices I still had to move to Qatar because at the end of the day bread & butter matters. I was never a connoisseur of foods & tastes but seldom missed chances to explore new variants & cuisines. At my infancy stage in Al Khor, there was nothing new here to excite my taste buds apart from Srilanka’s kothu porotta & Turkish shawarmas.
Those days as I had no DL to travel around Qatar, I limited myself in Al khor( a city in the northern coast of Qatar) for a while however keeping my limits aside I nourished my weekends sautéing chilies and roasting masala’s.
Wherever we go, whatever we do, we all love our existence. The taste, the memories everything is precious!
After having bukhari rice & kabsas for a longtime I broke up with emotionless Arabic cuisines because for me food has to be masala rich, I believed Indian spices gave a soul & life to food and when with spices every food had its own emotions.
Experimenting foods longed without any hindrance, tried new BBQ’s, rice variants and many others. I am a frequenter nowadays in a 2 year old restaurant joint in Al Khor, who has a long story to narrate about their entrepreneurship journey from Malabar to UAE & later to Qatar.
I can’t say they are absolute in every aspect but there are certain dishes, which give a call to visit their outlet again & again and one among those dishes definitely is the “Chatti Curry”
A mix of roasted & grinded spices well blended in a clay pot with gravy of sautéed onion, green chilies, ginger-garlic paste, tomatoes & chicken, served hot in the clay pot after spilling few curry leaves basted in coconut oil.
It fills our nose first with an aroma & later our appetite with a soulful delicacy.
