I forgot my #facetofacefriday post yesterday, so here it is a day late. On the left is from 2008 weighing in at my heaviest which was over 260 pounds. On the right is me currently, 130 pounds lighter. The first 50 pounds I lost over the course of six years just by eating somewhat healthier. The last 80 was strictly with Keto over the course of 10 months. I’m coming up on my second Ketoversary in March! I have been successfully maintaining my weight for nearly a year. That is just smayto me because I’m he past when I would lose weight I would always gain it back and then some. Keto is life 💙✨ . . I can't believe it's been an entire year since I started following the ketogenic lifestyle while drinking my yummy "Brain fuel"! It all started with the delicious Orange Dream 🍊😋 It feels like just yesterday I was thinking that I could never give up rice, bread and pasta. It started with a 5 day experience and here I am 365 days later, a changed woman.. 💥I've dieted before but finally finding this way of eating that works for me. Finding something that works in the long run is so important because weightloss is a marathon, not a sprint. There is NO true finish line.. Once you reach your goal weight you need to be able to maintain it or else what was the point of all the hard work you put in? The ketogenic lifestyle has changed my family's health status FOREVER because it allows us to eat delicious, satisfying foods that keep us full for long periods of time. I don't even remember the last time I had an urge to binge in. I've lost 41lbs and I have a few more to go and I'm going to continue eating #keto even when I reach my goal. I never feel deprived of anything eating this way, so why mess with a good thing?! Just want to say thank you to the wonderful community of people supporting me on this journey. You guys keep me inspired me to try new recipes, foods and your constant stream of support keeps my spirits high. I love you guys! ❤️ Here's to another year of success 🙌😁💪

New doctor 👩🏻‍⚕️ expressed concerns about Ketogenic and advised me to not partake in “extreme Ketogenic” practices (fasting/skipping meals, consuming high bad fats, and taking ketones) - Dr. mentioned that my #diabetestype2 is well managed and I should continue the low carb healthy fats lifestyle and increase activity to 150 minutes per week. She also suggested I don’t even call what I’m doing ketogenic to change mindset to what I should really be doing - she also expressed concerns with ketoacidosis and Shared how folks with no medical complications go on Keto and have had harmful reactions that led to hospitalizations and have been keeping the medical professionals busy with the fad of the ketogenic lifestyle. I’ve been severely restricting my intake of things like carrots, peppers, onions, etc. since beginning Keto, in an effort to stay on track, and within the recommended 20 grams healthy, net carbs per day range. Oh happy day!!! 👏🏼 since starting back on keto Jan 8th (supposed to have started Jan 1st, but oops!) I have lost 5lbs, even with having had all you can eat sushi last Saturday! Currently, Saturday’s are my carb nite days, which you can search “carb nite solution” to find info about (you’ll find a better explanation from articles/books than you ever could from me! Haha), so that means today I’ll be carbing it up! 🤟🏼 altho, I don’t go to crazy, but I’ll just eat a few select highish carb foods starting later this afternoon. Typically I’ll fast during the morning so I can save my calories for the carbs. ✌🏼anyhoos, I only have about 20lbs to lose, so I’m stoked to be 25% of my way there! 🙌🏼👏🏼

NOT KNOWING YOUR MACROS You may or may not be the type of person that wants to track every ounce of food that goes in their mouth, but it is a good idea to at least know in your head the approximate number of calories, fat & protein you should be consuming on top of your approx 20 net carbs. My favorite keto macro calculator can be found @ruledme Link to their website is on their Instagram page. 2. NOT GETTING ENOUGH FIBER A ketogenic diet can stop you up if you're not careful. Non-starchy vegetables belong in a healthy low-carb diet so be sure you're getting plenty everyday. Vegetables like broccoli, cauliflower, zucchini, bell peppers and fruits like avocado or berries are very high in micronutrients, low in carbs and provide needed fiber. Chia seeds are also high in fiber and can be added to smoothies, salads and even made into chia seed pudding. 3. NOT WATCHING YOUR ELECTROLYTES! Your electrolytes are composed of sodium, potassium & magnesium. A ketogenic diet can deplete these essential minerals if your not careful. There is a really great blog post about the keto flu that I highly recommend you look up. It's from Martina @ketodiet_app The article is titled "Keto-flu" and Sufficient Intake of Electrolytes. Google it! 😍 4. EATING TOO MANY "Keto Treats" vs REAL FOOD. Have you seen people use the word "JERF" It stands for Just Eat Real Food. The purpose of a Ketogenic diet is to heal your body and things wrapped in packages are often delicious but some of them are still filled with lots of fillers and things that don't really benefit your body long-term. Just keep that in mind. I definitely buy my fair share of Keto packaged items but I definitely limit them. I buy more things from the perimeter of the grocery store than I ever did when I was eating a standard American diet. 5. You’re going against the grain (pun TOTALLY intended) and you’re choosing a way of life that is difficult for the majority of society to understand. You cannot sit on the fence. 5️⃣minutes bread ------------------------ #️⃣Servings: 3 slices ⏳Preparation time: 5 minutes ⏰Cooking time: 5 minutes ---------------- Ingredients: 1 egg white 1 egg 2 tablespoons of coconut flour 1 tablespoons of flaxseed meal 1 tablespoon of salted butter 3 tablespoons of unsweetened almond milk 1 teaspoon of baking powder Salt to taste ------------ Preparation: 1. In a small and safe for microwave bowl add dry ingredients and whisk 2. Add wet ingredients and continue mixing until you have an homogeneous batter. 3. Microwaved for 5 minutes (depending on your microwave it may need and extra minute) 4. Check if bread is ready by sticking a wood stick in the middle, if it comes out clean, it is ready. 5.
