They are my Support System, physically and mentally.
Making friends is an obvious thing to do when studying abroad, but don't just have friends for fun.
10,000km away from home, they are ones who take care of me, give me feedbacks, help, be the listener and my mental health treatment.
Having international friends, especially Dutch friends helps you understand the culture of the country faster, also practice speaking Dutch. Here are some photos with my classmates on King's Night and traveling around Netherlands.
Having friends from your country is important as well. I have a small group of Vietnamese friends in Tilburg, and others from VSNL. They who will remind you of who you are, where you are from. Sometimes we just cooking together some Vietnamese food, especially during special occasion like Lunar New Year, makes me less home sick 😅. Value the relationship that you have while studying abroad. They could be the connection to something greater, maybe they will introduce you to your future employer.
So don't just study. Go out, have fun in your own way, join many student associations, learn together, grow together. /Annie
