Someone said I probably wouldn't be able to climb to the top........challenge excepted 👌👌
I often fear I’ve been missing out on so much that motherhood has to offer by not being fully “present” or “grounded” in who I am as a parent. The doubt and fear of judgement can so easily get in the way of just enjoying any moment for what it actually is. Good or bad. .
What I’m learning, though, is that it’s just as important to enjoy the “bad” moments because they are often when we are learning and growing most. 💗 It can be so easy to forget that we are learning almost just as much as these tiny little humans in the process of raising them.
The thing I’ve found about “being in the present” is that it often requires more confidence and less self-judgement. Often times it is ourself, not anyone else that is holding us back from being at our best. .
What an opportunity to recognize when we are learning to become better parents and to start truly basking in all the moment has to offer by appreciating ourselves for who we are in that exact moment. And if anyone else is holding judgement, let them. Just know in your heart that you are growing in the exact way you need to in the exact time in your life it is necessary for the exact tiny human(s) you are raising. If your heart is filled with intention, you are on the right path, no matter where you’re at in the road.
Gardener 5 breaking up the soil ready for a new crop 👩🏽🌾
This evening Lucy, Ellie and I planted carrots in the garden. As we were finishing up Lucy turned to me and said, "hey mom, after we water the carrots can we eat them and then go on the trampoline?" 😂😂😂 If only it worked that quick baby girl! 💦🌱🥕
My favorite part of my home is what's on the outside... my kids get to play in the dirt, climb trees, swim in the ponds, watch the sunset and sunrise over hay Meadows, play with ducks in a bowl of water 😉, we get to pee outside (I say we, I mean me too 😂, you country people know what I am talking about, feed the cows, ruin all our clothes, we lay out in the moist grass and really see the moon and stars above. This home, feels really close to Heaven ❤️

🚲 Family bike ride inspiration:
The Whakarewarewa Forest in Rotorua is world-renowned as the perfect mountain biking playground for parents and kids of all ages and skill. For a fun early rider track, try the 'kids loop' or if you've got the children on board your bike, check out the 'Inner Core Network' for a range of beginner and easy tracks that are fairly flat and smooth. 'Tahi' and 'Dipper' are super fun with wide sweeping corners. Being one of only six 'gold' mountain biking centres in the world, the 'Redwoods' feature fantastic scenery and continually evolving tracks - so its the perfect nature playground for the whole family time and again. Best access for families is from the carpark on Waipa State Mill Road. 📸 @hodgeman
Happy belated Earth Day! 🌏 In lieu of a post yesterday, I opted to work on an upcoming DIY explorer kit for young outdoor adventurers, and I am SOOOoooo excited to finish & share it later this week! Mother Nature seems to be making it very clear that Earth Day must be honored every day, so I went outside, and gathered inspiration...🌱 Spring is FINALLY bustin’ out all over. The birds are chirping, the grass is growing, nature calls and we are READY for it! In addition to a DIY cardboard explorer satchel and a special set of DIY nature badges, I put together an explorer’s journal with 24 quarter-sheet size pages of outdoor exploration activities - PLUS a DIY map, badge achievement cards, and a *VERY* official explorer registration + ID. 🙌 A young Indiana Jones...a future Jane Goodall...a mini John Muir...or maybe just a wannabe camping enthusiast like myself will find so much to love! Keep an eye to the sky and an ear to the ground...something big is on the horizon! 😉🌿🌼

Yesterday after church we took a short drive down the bluffs for an afternoon hike. This beauty is not lost on me, and sometimes I find myself in tears at how gorgeous God’s creation is. Yesterday, we found the most beautiful flowers (how amazing are the brilliant orange poppy flowers!), a gopher snake, handfuls of beach treasures, and watched two seals play in the ocean. Because the majority of my life has been in two coastal states (NC and CA), I do tend to forget the beach is not easily accessible to most.
I would love to send a family or two, with children that haven’t traveled to the ocean yet, a little box with some beach treasures we’ve found. Just leave a comment below telling me what state you live in and your favorite place to visit in your state. Because I’ve traveled enough to know, each state has its own special beauty. Tag a friend if you think they would want a ocean nature box. I’ll draw two names tomorrow and try to ship them this week. ❤️
Blessed to live in the city and still have this view especially during a sunrise 🌅. Gorgeous!
'Lean on me' - half way up 💛
We went to a favourite yearly walk to see the wildflowers in bloom. We have white fawn lilies here while a 40 minute drive inland there are pretty pink ones only. They were almost over, their blooms making way for bleeding hearts and twinflowers. It's an easy hike with deciduous and coniferous trees and a river running by. We found a new river access and the boys carved a slingshot while Maple the dog chased a stick in the water. We picked up supplies for gourmet hot dogs (veggie and not) on the bbq at home and it really felt like Spring!
Planting seeds for Earth Day 🌏. Getting dirty and having fun.
After our hike in the weekend I decided I need a new pack! Has anyone got a great recommendation? Hate it when the waist strap rides up too high and you end up carrying all the weight on your shoulders. What’s a good women’s specific pack that sits really well on the hips, around 40l?
Boys hard at play.🖤 With spring here again it’s been so good to get the boys out playing several times a day. The trampoline is up, the summer toys are out, and the wood pile is being used for whatever they think of.
My boys are extremely active and the best place to release their pent up energy is outdoors. Whether it’s sports, jumping, climbing, or building, when they finally tumble back in, our homeschool is calmer, and better for learning. Then when they get squirrelly again, I just let them back out.
Happy Earth 🌏 Day from Antelope Island!! We had a glorious day hiking and playing in the water...then headed to @roostersbrewing
in Layton for a yummy late lunch!!
Going up 😱 sorry in advance for the amateur filming. Nothing fancy just me holding the GoPro and trying not to go over the edge 😂
🍁 Seasonal changes.
With every new season, its a wonderful way to reignite conversations with children about nature and explore favourite spots that have undergone change. Aside from cooler starts and falling leaves, Autumn brings a vibrant range of colours, diverse smells, sounds and feeling underfoot that can be experienced even in your own backyard. What outdoor activities are on your list this Autumn? 📸 @bethphilippidis
We love bright colours 😍💙
