Did you know spending time outside in the winter is actually good for your health?
It's harder for germs to spread, you get much needed vitamin D to boost the immune system, and it's thought that exercising in cold air helps flush your respiratory system of bacteria. It also combats the winter blues. So bundle up and get out there friends!
Do you still get outside in the winter? If not, what's stopping you? .

I love to share these special moments with you but what I'd love to share even more is what we have learned through experiencing things along the way.
Do me a favor and tell me- if I shared all the details behind the scenes, what would you mean most interested in hearing about?
I'm an open book and would to see other families growing together and bonding through these amazing experiences. ❤
Just the other day we read an article in the @matadornetwork
about the expressions we use to extend our best wishes to people who are going to travel, to take their trips, to embark on a journey.
, a writer, blogger and traveler, strongly suggests do not say ”Have a safe trip” in that case. While it’s a good wish, at first sight, the underlying meaning of these words implied that “the world is dangerous, and I hope it doesn’t hurt you”. It gives the impression that it’s not safe to go anywhere by default, but since you’re going to, you should beware and watch your back. That’s really a little depressing, don’t you think so?
“Enjoy and have fun!” could be a new motto of open-minded travellers, especially for those #littlestraveltheworld
she was born to be free; let her run wild in her own way and you will never lose her 💫
Why try to catch falling snowflakes when you can just lick them off the tree? 😄
The face you make when your mom and dad tell you to stop and smile next to the narwhal but it is 9 degrees, you can barely move in your coat two sizes too big, and you have no idea what a narwhal is. ◽️
The Iceland at @MoodyGardens
in Galveston was stunning. It felt like we stepped into a magical frozen wonderland. We visited first thing on a Thursday morning the last week in November and had the entire place to ourselves. It was SO COOL. (Pun not intended, just kidding, pun, intended). ◽️
We had so much fun in Galveston for our winter getaway that I think we will have to make it an annual holiday tradition. ▫️
What family holiday traditions do you have?
Miss Cloudy has always loved the “Ruby Red Shoes Goes to Paris” book and has always been talking about her first trip to Paris. I honestly have never seen a kid so excited to see the Eiffel Tower. It was really sweet. So here is Cloudy and Miss Ruby Red Shoes, together, on their first day in Paris. 🐰👠 @missrubyredshoes
Ridin’ into the week like...
Today is our 13th wedding anniversary and because we always take photos together (not really, we need to utilize the timer), jump down 43 little squares and you can see what 13 years looks like. 🥜
The craziness and growth and hard times and fun times, Wooh! We have literally been through the “...in sickness and health...” part and all the fun and messy crap you can deal with. 🌋
But, we made it to lucky number 13 and will share the key to all of our marriage bliss (chocolate and bus life. Ha!): Communication. Boom! Enjoy your Monday!
So we actually have pretty good weather today and are likely heading to the pediatrician 😢, but my blog post about getting kids playing outdoors in the winter is live and ready to go!
As you know, I’ve been trying to be more intentional about getting outdoors, so I scoured the internet and our own past experiences to come up a list of activities and inspiration to get out in the fresh air!
Playing in the snow is an obvious choice, but you might be surprised at a few of the others we’ve tried!
Head to the link in my profile to check out the post and I’d love to hear what YOU do to get outside during the winter! Let me know in the comments 👇🏼
Pure joy. 😊
The other day, out of the blue, Rowan said "Mom, I really love Thailand". It may have been due to the fact that random strangers just gave her two cups of ice cream (shortly after she finished the one we bought) but still, it melted my heart and made me feel like we are doing something right. 💛
Staring longingly at that wine rack like she’s a mom 🍷
I can still hear the giggles 😍
Cuteness overload right here☝🏻 Let’s hear it for amazing pink fur coats, sparkly cat ears and being snuggled tight by family. ❤️ #ahpchristmasminis

The mountains and valleys of Slovenia are too often overlooked by travellers 🇸🇮 The gorgeous country has so much natural beauty to offer ⛰️
Does this photo make you wanna go?
Taken by @paolabrigneti

Just before sunrise on Charles' Bridge ❤️
Me: “You know where birds fly south for the winter?”
Wes: “Our house!” I think they just might. Merry Christmas birdies. 🎄
Having the UK as a Homebase is pretty amazing (let’s hope it stays that way post-brexit) as it’s so easy to jet off somewhere for a weekend adventure with Europe on our doorstep. Today’s #myfamilywanderlust
is from @travelynnfamily
who recently headed to Lisbon for a cultural city break with her tribe. Look at the view and gorgeous sunshine! Lisbon has always been really high on my bucket list and great for a long weekend. We finally made it to the glorious Rif (pronounced Reef) Mountains where we hired a native to take us on a strenuous hike through the spectacular, lush mountains of Northern Morocco and to get a glimpse of this new, different culture up close.
Instead of taking the tourist hike up, Mofa, who spoke to us in Spanish took us through the private villages where he told the story of his family and explained their lifestyle as he pointed out the delicious olive trees and different herbs growing some of which I won’t mention if you get my drift.
We hiked to a rock formation called God’s Bridge and then started our trek down on a different trail being totally surrounded by mountains and getting partial views of the pure, turquoise river below. With it being the off season we never saw another soul on the trail including unfortunately missing an encounter with the elusive, endangered Barbary macaque monkeys. Every step of the way, Morocco has blown us away with its untouched beauty. #TheMitchellTribe #AdventureMamas
We went on a hike yesterday, the highlight of which was exploring this old abandoned village in the mountains. Crazy to think that just last week we were in a completely different world. .
En buena compañia todo es mejor!!
Collecting pine needles as a child was always fun. Actually, collecting anything outside was always fun!
One more beautiful sunset left tomorrow 😒
We were running from a swarm of flies and found #natureswindow
“Hide in there Jaden!” I yelled “maybe they won’t see us anymore.” But it didn’t work. Next time wear a fly mesh for your face we were told. Don’t let this discourage you from seeing this amazing place. It’s like the Grand Canyon in Australia. Pretty cool eh?
Lots of snacks. The no 1 key to happy kids when hiking. Happy adults too btw. This time I had peanuts, dried bananas and raisins. Whats your favourite? // Har alltid nån slags jägarsnus i en ficka som jag kan nå samtidigt som jag går. Gärna sött o salt blandat!
Best birthday ever ❤️❤️❤️ Woke up to this extraordinary view with my family. Later climbing at @kraftogskred
in an old hydro power station in Tafjord.
Day 1. I could’nt be happier!!! Great day! He just fell asleep and I got a whiskey.
Some trips are just great. Even the freeze dried coffee tastes good!
