"Samantha, be home by eight. Your father and I need you to babysit your brother and sister." Her mother called out from the kitchen. "Ya mom, you got it." The teenager shouted back, grabbing her purple hoverboard before heading out the door. She shut the door with a slam, hopping onto the board and zooming away. She swerved around people, posts, corners of buildings before tumbling off of the board, face first, into a sign. "Oof." A groan of pain escaped from her red lipstick coated lips. That was definitely going to leave a mark. Sam sighed as she moved strands of purple hair out of her face before picking up the hoverboard. She'd just walk the rest of the way to her friend's house, she supposed.
With the board in her star themed backpack, she adjusted her leather jacket and began to strolled through the town, carefully watching her surroundings. Maybe if she had done that a little better while on her board, she wouldn't have a cut on her cheek or be walking.
Her fingers traced over the cut, irritating it more. It caused her to wince at the sharp pain and she shoved her hand into the pocket of her jacket. This walk was going to be a long one. Her friend's house was halfway across town and she really didn't want to hop back onto her board. She did the math mentally and concluded that she wouldn't make it in time to her friend's house before having to return home.
Oh well. Her brother and her sister needed to be looked after and since she was eldest of bunch, she took full responsibility. Even if it meant not being able to visit her friend. Not that it mattered anyways, she kinda wanted to address the cut on her cheek, clean it up a bit. Gah, it was stinging so much and she couldn't tell how bad it was. She swung around, heading back home. Drip. Huh? She looked up to the sky and noticed that it started to rain. The light fluffy clouds from early had switched into dark ones. [ 1 of 2 ]
