S U C C E S S / / What is success? It’s such a weird concept and as a Mama I think it’s something that is pondered a bit. The whole ‘who am I now?’ question. What’s important changes when you have a babe and it’s left me feeling quite stumped. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I loved being a teacher. I felt like I was doing what I was meant to do with my life. I was contributing to society and helping change things even in a small way. Then I had Fin. And I realised that my values changed in the process. I can no long align myself 100% with the current education system. So where does that leave me?
Some days I still have the desire to change the world. Do something BIG. But I’ve realised (for a while now) and am slowly accepting that success for me is living. Not working 70+ hours a week. Not being stressed or preoccupied with what needs to be done. Life is short, the world is big and things can be that simple. We’ve decided that for us, as a family, success is: living, experiences, travel, time spent together. It’s not work, or flash cars, or “stuff”. #livingourbestlife #values #whatsimportant #familytime #kmlnz #aucklandmum #instamum #hibsicuscoast #auckland #nz
What's your favourite self pamper buy this year? (Not necessarily beauty or nails - what did you buy for you that you LOVE!!)
I’m like a magpie to Metallics! Just check out my #manicure
pics! 💅🏻 So much pretty in this hair dryer and rave reviews too! I had a bit of a biggish hair chop today (my stylist said - you know this is the shortest you’ve been in forever? ) 💁🏼♀️ - so looking forward to styling it with this beauty in the morning.
Best purchase for 2018!
And just like that the 3rd birthday presents have started. Thank you very much to our Great Travelling Aunt @barbiedevine
for the awesome present. Can’t wait to get your postcards from Myanmar 🇲🇲 💕 #travellingauntie #birthdaypresent
‘Be you, bravely.’ 💕
This is something we strive to instil in our girls, especially the twins. They may look the same but they are two completely different people. We encourage their individuality & help them to grow to be the very best version of themselves. Penelope may be our quiet one, but she’s also our risk taker, the most confident in herself & her abilities. Such an amazing quality to have. .
P R O G R E S S / / It’s crazy to see how far Fin has come in the last couple of months. It’s hard for others to understand the true scope of it because to the outside she appears just like an ordinary toddler. Parents of kids with SPD or other things, probably get it a bit more - how much goes into managing the environment for these kids to “appear normal” lol. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
There was a real fear that we were losing Fin; her personality, her abilities, what makes her unique. I truly believe if we had done her 15mo imms we would have lost her totally. No, I’m not anti vax - my child is just that 1 in a million that doesn’t process them well. The toxins stay in her system, in her body, and her brain and as they build up they affect her. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I’m so grateful that we’ve been able to learn about detoxifying, methylation, sensory issues etc. I’m so grateful we’ve had family support to pay for these treatments, supplements, special food as it all adds up. I’m mostly grateful that we can feel, and say, we have our little girl back. Our girl that plays games, giggles, is speaking now, cuddling and showing us more love than my heart could have ever dreamed of 💖

Day 21: Water 🌊
I've always been drawn to the sea, but never quite understood why.
Maybe it's because I always come away feeling refreshed and recharged. That feeling is super addictive!
Maybe it's because I feel free.
Maybe it's because I feel energised.
Maybe it's because I feel connected.
Being close to the water (or in it!) has this magical way of washing away any negativity I'm feeling, it's almost instantly calming. Yoga takes on such a deeper, more fulfilling experience for me when it's presented to the great ocean.
As some of you would've seen yesterday, I finally braved a winter sea dip - I'm jumping on board the @iceman_hof
breathing train, and part of that lifestyle change is exposure to the cold. To be honest, when @holisticpainmanagementnz
told me about it ages ago, I thought he was a bit of a nutter (not that that's changed at all!😉) but feeling is believing. The fact that I could breathe through the cold to the point that I felt relatively warm in the sea in the middle of winter (on my first attempt!) is pretty freaking amazing.
I'm so inspired and have this renewed faith in myself, which is absolutely wicked ❤ It sounds silly after one little dip in the sea, but it really gave me the feeling that if I could do that, I can do anything - and that's definitely something to be grateful for.
Selfie Saturday!!! I've been really enjoying my hair journey with with my Indulgent purchase my Remington Air3D & have officially neglected my straighteners because this hair dryer is just so amazing at smoothing my hair! Big thanks to the fab @beautyreviewnz
and the reviewers for the encouraging nudge to hair-happiness!!! Dry frizzy hair be gone!
As for the selfie. I’m loving my ‘glow’. It’s Saturday - so pop up your selfie and join me! It’s good for the soul! 🙌🏻❤️ Yes those are wrinkles - #meh
I'm 42 (truth be told only a few weeks short of 43)....I wish I'd had this skin and confidence in my 20's and 30's! #nevertoolate #asmileistheprettiestthingyoucanwear
That’s the face of one happy but very tired kid! She was invited to her very first party of one of her preschool mates. Needless to say she had a wonderful time and can’t wait until her 3rd birthday in a month. #tiredbuthappy #sugaroverload #partiedout
Day 20: Silly
When you're late for your own photo challenge... Meh! 😂 Seriously though, these face mats from Kmart are so much fun!
PS. This first photo kind of makes me want more lipstick in my life!! Any recommendations for a good (preferably cheap!) one?? 🤔🤔😘 #joyfuljuly2018 #glowmamaphotochallenge
Tell me what you did today?
We had my little girls first ever haircut, then her first cinema trip - AND that meant our first cinema trip as a family of four #milestonemoment
I love this one's ability to explore and find adventure everyday - though it's not that hard when you're in paradise ☀️☀️☀️❤❤❤ #mygeorgetimothy #lovetaupo
T I M E / / In just over two weeks (we still don’t have a date) this little girl is going to be a big sister 😱 I’m not sure how I feel about this atm 😂 I’m a little sad thinking that things will change in all honesty. I’ve loved having all of her and her having all of me.
Her carer or her Nana Lea will take her out in the mornings to keep her active and get some sensory input. I’ll use that time to hang with 🍓 and rest 🤞🏼 We know that with her SPD, and me being her safe person, that I need to have decent time with her each day. This will probably be in the afternoon when Hubby D is home to hang with 🍓
In other news, I’m totally getting impatient waiting for a date 🙈🤦🏼♀️

Gingerbread men are so 2017!!! Ginger-unicorns and Ginger-moustaches are the new #gingerbreadman
I told the kids we were on a 'no-purchase' toys month - purely because they have soooo many toys..... but that is kind of hard, so today we were shopping, and I declared today a FUN baking day and let them each pick a cookie cutter! $2.50 purchase each is a bargain shopping excursion with kids! #justsaying
...and didn't break the no-purchase of toys either.....
But seriously how cute are these cookies! (and my nails #ofcourse
)....now to the real fun part - the Icing! 👌🏻🍪🍪
Day 19: Night.
There's something magical about nighttime - especially with kids. Its entrance is magnificent - the sky lights up in celebration of nighttimes arrival. I think because your vision is limited by the darkness, your other senses sharpen. You feel the temperature changes more intensely, sounds are more obvious, scents are stronger.
As a kid, nighttime had such a new novelty, because we weren't out in it nearly as much. I used to love seeing the lights of the city, or during a light festival or at Christmas time - in fact, I still do. I LOVE fairy lights, and want to eventually have ALL the fairy lights EVERYWHERE. Our boys are always so excited to be outside in the dark too, I think it feels quite special.
It's so cool when you see how excited your kids get over stuff like that - reminds you to get excited too. 🌙🌠 #joyfuljuly2018 #glowmamaphotochallenge
Day 19: Night.
Perhaps you have joyful nighttime rituals? A nighttime bedtime story or special drink? A photo of a joyful nighttime memory? Or perhaps you're just grateful that nighttime is when the kids go to bed! 😉
What brings you joy? What are you grateful for?
This month we are trying @love_food_hate_waste_nz
Easy Choice Family Kai winter menu. The menu has the next 4 weeks sorted for 5 dinners a week for approx $60 a week. Tonight we had Chicken noodle soup using last nights left over roast chicken - delicious 😋.
Here's a small selection of the gorgeous goodness I captured during my last pop up! I have another one coming up on Sunday 5th August - spaces are filling up fast, so if you're in the Hutt (or Wellington!) and you're keen, let me know!
Day 18: Goals.
If you search #goals
right now on Instagram, the majority of the images are related to looking a certain way, having a certain physique. Like, don't get me wrong - I'm as envious of a perfect set of abs as the next chick, but my GOALS - I.e. what I put my time and energy into - runs far deeper than my body fat percentage.
How about we strive to be healthy?
How about we strive to be happy?
How about we strive to be comfortable in our own skin, regardless of whether we have a 6 pack or the whole keg?
It's great to have goals, but most of us only have the capacity to *really* concentrate on a limited number of goals at any given time - so consider how you prioritise your energy and focus.
Let's focus on loving our families.
Let's focus on loving ourselves.
Let's focus on being kind.
Let's focus on uplifting others.
Let's focus on being inspiring through our actions.
Let's focus on having wrinkles caused by laughter, rather than stress.
Let's focus on ending each day with satisfaction that we did ourselves proud.
Let's focus on nourishing our bodies and our souls with goodness.
Let's focus on finding joy in every day, in the tiny little moments that are often overlooked.
Let's focus on keeping ourselves mentally well, heck, mentally AMAZING.
Let's focus on finding a passion to direct our energy into.
Let's focus on creating a legacy we can look back on and think "fuck, yeah!" with ultimate pride and happiness.
Those are my #goals
. How about you?
The last couple of days I have worn my hair out, a lot of people I see regularly commented on the fact that my hair was curly/wavy, obviously it’s something you don’t notice when it’s in a mum bun every day or it’s been straightened 😂. My work colleagues who I have worked with for the past two years were shocked as they all thought I had straight hair! Anyway those that have slightly curly/wavy hair, how do you deal with it? I don’t mind the wave on a good day but am looking at having less frizz and more curl - any product recommendations greatly received 😃 #yesiamgrey #yesidyeit #yesiknowthegreysareshowing
Stumbled upon a cute little park today and went rock hunting! The kids absolutely Loved it, and we managed to find some rocks too - this may be a new weekend fave!
Do I have Pickle fans in my followers?
On this occasion Jams & Pickles 🥒 do go together 👍🏻💅🏻.... I'm happily about indulge in some cheese, crackers, and the best jar of bread and butter pickles on earth thanks to @pickleandpie_deli
🙌🏻👏🏻❤️ .... Wellington followers you MUST pay a visit to Pickle & Pie in the city....total food and pickle heaven! .... what I do LOVE is that when I return my empty pickle jar to them when buying my next jar they give me 50cents of my new jar of pickles ✨🥒
How amazing was the weather yesterday!? Bike rides to the beach was a must! You could have almost tricked yourself into thinking summer was on the horizon. And I even managed to get three loads of washing dry! Yaass 🙌🏼☀️
Bring on the warmer months! .
Day 18: Goals
This can be a current goal, future goal (which is technically still a present goal! 😉), already-achieved-like-a-damn-rockstar goal - show me your goals! Celebrate them!
Having goals means you have hope.
Means you have plans.
Means you have PURPOSE.
I can't wait to see what you have in store for yourself ❤
Just a reminder that we will be shutting the doors in a couple of weeks while I go on maternity leave! The website will stay open with stocked items but custom orders will be placed on hold. .
I can’t promise we’ll reopen so if there’s something you’ve had your eye on, get in before it’s gone (possibly for good!)
