Raw Milk. The worst, most infectious substance in the world responsible for 4 billion deaths a year. Whatever you do just know that raw milk kills! Yeah, I think not. A majority of us know how throwing the baby out with the bath water is counterproductive to say the least. What has been covered up about raw milk? Well a lot actually. The pasteurization we see in the dairy industry is a result of their questionable practices and unrealistic bottom line. The more questionable the environment, health and feed of the cattle/ animal the more necessary it is to boil away the disease, but at what cost? Industrial milk most often involves many of the following; animal torture/ agony, increased pollution, hormones, antibiotics, monoculture, GMO and pesticide heavy feed operations resulting in erosion, loss of nutrients from the superfood (milk) because of heat and feed, UHT: ultra high temperature pasteurization, built up toxicity from accumulation of toxins in the tissue and fat of mammals, homogenization which leads to human arterial damage, lactose intolerance as a result of destroying the enzyme lactase with heat, increased stress hormones in the animal, denatured proteins and many more. A cow or any other ruminant who’s milk is to be collected is meant to eat fresh vegetation, the grass not only gives the milk the nutrients it was meant to contain but also keeps the health of the animal on point by maintaining the right stomach pH (potential of hydrogen). The animal also has a built in instinct to choose the best blades of grass which results in a superior end product. The animal also provides important nutrition for the soil in the form of manure. The pasture raised animal has access to sunlight which is a sanitation method all on its own, benefitting the animal in the same way it benefits us, too many to list.
