This is one of several ladders I did on my hike today. I started at dawn, and “gave up” early, took a less rigorous hike only to find out the loop I choose brought me back to the original one I gave up on.
In classic Jenee mode I did the original hike in reverse which made it way more difficult, lots of scrambling and receding backwards between boulders.
It’s not that the hike is terribly difficult — it’s that I was alone, have a mild fear of heights, and had never done this trail before.
It ended up being one of the better hikes I’ve done in SoCal. The larger loop is a ridge with views of the canyon and Salton Sea. 10/10 would do again, but 100% never backwards. Guess I’m more capable than I thought I was. .
