Workout for today done! 🙌🏼
Sometimes during my rest periods between sets I lose track of time (mainly because I start scrolling through Instagram or FB) 🙈 and I end up cutting out sets or leaving out some exercises. So to help with this today I just set a timer so as soon as it buzzed I got back to my next set!
Sometimes I do some mobility exercises in between sets but again can lose track of time.
Also today's workout took a bit longer as I met someone I knew, so naturally stopped for the chats! Always happens in Drumcondra 😂🙈
This is how we celebrate Fridays... For me, it marks the achievement of my weekly goal, which is to workout 5 days a week. At least. So I do Mondays to Fridays and rest on Saturdays and Sundays.
What are your goals? You can break them down into daily goals and focus on getting through one day and then move to the next.

I ALMOST need a little bag 🧳for it all.
THEN, in the next pic I BRING a lot of stuff to the gym. I’ll show you sometime, but I bring running shoes, lifting shoes, coat, BCAAs, all the other stuff mentioned above and other randomness.
Good grief 🙄, I like move-in everyday I go.
Anyway, I had a crappy work day, but SO HAPPY 😁 my workout was awesome. Leg 🦵 Days are my favorite. I hit it harder than normal and I’m glad I did.

I’M BACK BETCHES! I took 5 whole days off. Between some really long, stressful days at work and a nice, little spa getaway to Montreal the gym just didn’t happen. The best part of that is that I missed it so much! I thought about the gym every day, and I really looked forward to going back. •
My eating habits were not the best they’ve been, but I had some delicious Syrian food and I don’t regret it one bit! •
Thought I’d ease myself back into it with some quick cardio. 15 minutes on the bike with @myfavoritemurder
and I was sweating up a storm. I managed to make it 3.25 miles and my thighs are FEELIN IT already! Proud of those babies! •
One of the best parts of going to a spa was to see all the other mid-winter bodies. They were thick, thin, pale, tan, lumpy, smooth, and best of all... NORMAL. It really did wonders for my self esteem and I was nice and relaxed in the end. It was a whole new way to take care of my overall health. 10/10 would recommend. I definitely recommend @botabotamtl

When Ritu first started training, we had her performing bodyweight box squats. After a few weeks of consistent training, she's now strong enough to squat with a weighted barbell. These days, she enjoys being able to go about her daily activities without worrying about having any back pain.

Thoughts on planet fitness: If you’re a cheap college kid with a busy schedule like me, the price and hours cannot be beat. For beginners or anyone looking to just tone up and work on their physical health, it’s a great gym to try out. You don’t need crazy gym equipment to reach your goals as long as you’re determined and put forth your best effort. I’ve been to higher end gyms and I love love love being able to use real squat racks (seriously smith machines get old) but with a little creativity you can make any gym your bitch 💪🏽

STOP 🛑 scrolling.. I got something say.
TBT to summer days where I was the smallest and leanest I have been. But it was also when I was hiding or at least not acknowledging how alone, sad and insecure I was. 👇🏼
Between May and July of 2018 I was hovering between 117-120lbs. I was the smallest I had been probably since highschool. I was tracking very diligently and was the most strict I have ever been with my diet. Did I feel confident in my skin from a physical stand point? Yeah, probably the most confident I have ever felt. Did I feel secure and confident mentally and as a person? Nope. But did I address that? Nope. Rather, I dumped everything into my physical appearance and fitness journey.
It wasn’t until some pivotal transitions in my life that I came to realize this and took time to step back and re-evaluate what I was doing and why:
🔹I was avoiding how I felt about other circumstances so I hyper focused else where
🔹I felt like I was losing control so hyper focused on something I knew I could control
🔹I felt having a more strong outward appearance would help give me more inner strength.. or at least come off that way
👉🏼Fast forward 7-8 months and I have gained 10-14lbs but have gained so much more mental strength. I am way more connected to God and have way more spiritual strength and mental clarity and awareness than I did 7-8 months ago. I feel more balanced. I feel joy that I have never felt and it doesn’t have to do with how I look.
Soooo.. my hope and prayer is that someone reads this and relates to this and can re-evaluate where they are at in their fitness journey and adjust accordingly if need be. Give me a 👋 if you can relate or have experienced something similar. .

MENTAL TOUGHNESS IS A SKILL👊🏼💥
Deadlifts have been a huge struggle for me lately, both physically & mentally. (Excuse the bad video with low garage lighting, I had to train with the garage door closed today because it was in the 30s & snowing 🌨 here in Vegas 🙄.)
I’m training to compete in the @strongfirst
TSC on May 4 with my Iron Body garage gang clients so I started back on a training program for deadlifts, pull-ups, & snatches on Jan 14.
Pull-ups & snatches are going well, but deadlifts have been slow going. Today’s work sets were 4x5 at 215#. Up until today, 215# has been feeling more like 315# lately, which is crazy because sets of 5 reps of double 48kg (212#) kettlebell deadlifts feel 100# lighter than that same weight on the barbell.
Normally I wouldn’t wear my weight belt until I got into multiple reps at 225# or 235# but last week I did 1 set of 5 reps at 215# without my weight belt & 1 set of 5 reps at 215# with my weight belt & maybe it was completely mental, but wearing my weight belt helped me to feel stronger & to have more confidence through my set.
SO, this week I decided that if wearing my weight belt was going to help me to complete my sets at 215# that,
1️⃣ I was just going to put it on & get it done; and
2️⃣ My positive mental script as I approached my sets at 215# would be, “It’s just like deadlifting double beasts. You’ve got this.”
These simple 2 strategies helped & I got shit done. Deadlifts were hard, because well, deadlifts are hard, but they didn’t feel like a struggle today & I felt stronger & like I’m starting to get a little bit of my mojo back.
