I got asked what I'm gonna do about my workout scheduled for Thanksgiving....uh, workout 🤔. If I workout to feel good, have more energy, and be confident why WOULDN'T I do that on the day I need all that more?! Sure, the holidays are busy but in the season of giving, why aren't you giving 30 minutes to yourself?! 🤷‍♀️ With the online fitness catalog you can pick whatever you need. 10 min to 60 min. Stretch to high intensity. No equipment to a full gym setup. In your workout space or tucked away into the closet area while traveling. Not sure about you, but anything that makes a second slice (let's be real probably a 3rd slice) of my favorite pie from my mom feel less guilty is OK 👌 by me! 🔰🔰Tuesday Tip 🔰🔰 As regrettable as it was, I had to leave my spice collection( except the @thegymchef ones, knew I wouldn't get those here) back in the UK as packing and space was becoming an issue. After getting settled in this September, getting together a varied range of different seasonings was a top priority when it came to starting to get back in to a routine. The same ingredients for meal preparation can be vastly different with a little spice, the variety to life. 🥔 One day its garlic potatoes the next it could be bbq mashed spuds. See what a little variety you can come up with to make food preparation less of the same old boring bland chicken 🐔, over steamed broccoli 🥦 and undercooked brown rice🍚.

I've found the past few weeks at the gym really hard. I've been more tired than usual, more stressed than usual, and less motivated than usual. And that's totally ok. In the past, I would have pushed harder, tried harder and just tried to work through it, but I've learned that is not the answer. Sometimes you need to dial things back, listen to your body and take more rest days. You can't "crush it" every day. You can't "kill it" every day. You can't PR every day. It's not realistic and it's not fair to think that you can because you are only setting yourself up for failure. Trying to push harder only makes things worse. It increases fatigue. It increases inflammation. It increases stress. And only perpetuates the problems that got you there in the first place. Sometimes you just need to do what you can. For me, that doesn't mean exercising zero days, it means exercising fewer days, and going at my own pace. Too often people think they need to be all in or all out, working out 5 days a week or not working out at all. But the truth is there is a LOT of space in between those two things, and that's the sweet spot. Sometimes that sweet spot will be more, and sometimes it will less, and that's ok. It's important to keep in mind that progress is not a linear curve to success, there are lots of detours along the way. #redsrecommendations 📸 @brittanygawley

Well...I got a new squat gym PR last night but I also screwed up my back. Just as I push the bar up you can hear me grunt and step back...that was the moment. As I turn around I’m starting to say “my back...” before the camera turns off. It hurts y’all. . It’s been hurting for a week or two but I couldn’t get into the chiropractor with the available time that I had so I decided to put it off until my regularly scheduled appointment in a couple weeks. These pictures are super hard for me to look at and even harder to post online 🙈😳 . About 8 years ago I was told that I would be in a wheelchair before I was 40!! I had unexplained pain all over my body, my legs shook violently when I stood up, I was seriously underweight and I was so poorly! Life sucked !!! . In 2015 when I was finally diagnosed with Ehlers Danlos Syndrone, I was told that I could use exercise as pain management. I jumped straight in and tbh I've never looked back!!! . It hasn't been easy at all and I didn't see changes overnight. It's took years of pain, dedication and graft just to get to where I am today! . But I'm telling you now, it's worth it!!!! I started exercising to control pain, I didn't expect my body to change quite so much! I have gained weight, strength, confidence and the ability to take back some of my life! Considering the temp outside, and the temp in my basement this morning I am sweating - thanks Joel!!!!! For those who don’t know me, I’m a planner. And although sometimes being somewhat spontaneous is fun, I like having things very thought out, planned and executed exactly as in my mind. I’m an on time person, where being anything more than 5mins early is late. I plan vacations, review where I’ll be, look at maps so I know what’s around vs. where I’ll need to get too. I wouldn’t say I’m an A personality, but I like having control over the things I can control. Then there is life, and the joy of life is that nothing goes as planned usually!!! So I adjust, I refocus, I set new parameters within my plan. Yesterday morning started great, then my commute to work became a frustrating 1.5hrs when it should only take about 40mins... so I left work late, which made my commute home another 1.5hrs... while I stood in my kitchen heating up my leftovers for supper which at that point I’d of eaten cold I was so hungry, I commented to my sister that there was no way in the world, had I not planned (known myself), enough to know there is never going to be a time that I want to workout after work! Ever!!!!! So 4am it is! Get comfortable with being uncomfortable! And let’s be honest squats are pretty god damn uncomfortable! Literally have to be up there with some of my least favourite exercises ever. BUT after I do them, and don’t die, and lift heavier then I did last time I did them I feel flipping fantastic (well I’m sure I will.... right now I feel like bambi on ice) Nothing good comes from your comfort zone so do something every day that pushes you! No massive numbers lifted today but serious session done and 60kg was moving a lot easier then last week 🙌🙌
