We are celebrating our 2nd year of Christmas here in NEUST Papaya Off-Campus Program, and this event is a beautiful collaboration of different artists from 3 different sections (BSBA 1c, 3b & 3c) uniting men and women as one in this event.
The Lantern Contest this year also creating environmental awareness of saving our mother earth by means of using different recycled / recyclable materials. We used different plastic untensils (spoons & cups), CD's, colored papers, plastic caps and bottles, yema wrappers, used straws and used plastic covers as the main materials of the parol.
The story of our last year's lantern continue in this year as we are taking another journey, story line and inspiration from different historical places, landmarks and tranditions of the Philippines, making it more colorful and flamboyant, looking and making it as the Giant Lantern you can see in Pampanga.
The inspiration for this year's lantern, it was taken from different and beautiful art deco of the Metropolitan Theater in Manila. We came to an idea of showcasing our Metropolitan theater (although it is in renovation right now) to our Parol as we incorporate the tile designs into our stars; the beautiful waves of the ocean, the tropical flowers of the Philippines.
The beautiful flower of Poinsettia in the middle symbolizing the Christmas was taken from the inspiration of Christmas in the Philippines and the rest of the World (the Universe rather!). The surrounding designs of the stars was inspired from the Pahiyas Festival (the beautiful and colorful decorations of the house during the Pahiyas Festival, we mimicked it into our Parol). And lastly, the bahay Kubo making it more Pilipino...(sadly for some reason the judging committee decided not to include it). #neust #papayaocp #2nd #lanternfestival #contest #bsba #1c #3b #3c #cmbt #businessadministration #marketingmanagement #christmasparty #paskuhansaneust #metropolitantheater #pahiyasfestival #poinsettia #pampanga #quezon #baguio #nuevaecija #vivov7plus #pictureperfect
