After three weeks of bad weather and illness, it’s great to be traveling again and back on the trails.
Another beautiful day out at Cottonwood. After several rides, I am definitely loving my new bike! Now the biggest challenge is avoiding heat exhaustion. 80 degrees on the past few rides and I’m still overheating - if you have any tips/tricks I would love to hear them! Hoping to start doing some night riding soon. #mtb #cottonwoodtrails #latenighttrails #redrock #reiemployee #optoutside
Had a fun time on a short little hike in Red Rock known as Lone Grapevine Spring. The hike takes you along trails only for foot traffic as well as part of the mixed use hiking/equestrian/MTB trails of the Cottonwood Valley/Latenight Trails system. As you depart the main trails, you eventually get to a spring running with a steady trickle of water into a metal trough. From there, some further hiking leads to a panel of petroglyphs. If you do this hike, please remember to respect the petroglyphs. Take only pictures and avoid touching them, as the oil in our fingers can break them down & contribute to their disappearance. #WillYouGoOutWithMe #100DaysOutside #OptOutside365 #ForceOfNature
This morning I made it out right around sunrise for a hike. The weather looked good - only partly cloudy skies and slightly windy. Then I got out there, rounded a small hill & got hit with 30+mph gusts and near-freezing rain that felt like shards of glass against my face. But it was beautiful!! The black clouds hovering over Red Rock were countered with the sun rising up over the city. The mix created a brilliant rainbow that spanned across the entire Cottonwood Valley. Even in foul weather, the beauty of Red Rock never ceases to amaze me! #WillYouGoOutWithMe #100DaysOutside #OptOutside365
