Hi there! 👋🏼I’m Laura Burkhart, an artist, maker and designer born + raised in the Pacific Northwest. I figured it was about time I reintroduced myself on here. I regularly share a lot of my heart + soul, but probably have never actually done a proper introduction...so here goes!
I’ve wanted to be an Artist for as long as I can remember and have been pursuing this passion my whole life. I have degrees in both Fine Arts and Interior Design, and have worked a variety of creative jobs in the past decade.
After working in Interior and Event Design and running my own Custom Art business, I did Display for @freepeople
for many years. It was one of the most incredible jobs I’ve ever had, as I was surrounded by and collaborated with so many talented inspiring women, and got to create art installations all over the country. We worked in every artistic medium you can imagine and I learned new skills constantly. I then did Creative Merchandising + Display for @filson1897
, another amazing opportunity to create for a brand with an aesthetic I loved in a variety of mediums. All the while I’ve always painted, built, and designed on the side, doing installations in the evenings, working on shows and pop-ups on the weekends, and managing clients in any spare time I had. This last May, I finally decided to take the leap to take on my own business full time and I haven’t looked back since. You can now find me working in my little woodshop, painting in my studio, or designing around the city. In between I’m usually running, biking, hiking or paddle-boarding, always moving, always outdoors, and spending time with my sweet husband, Jake (of @seattlepilatesco
) and our 100lb Ridgeback, Phinney. 🖤
I’ve experienced devastating loss and incredible joy in my 33 years and strongly believe that health + happiness are paramount, community is everything and life is way too damn short to not be doing what you love and living your truth. I wear my heart on my sleeve and cannot hide my emotions for better or worse. This is an honest record of my work, my life, my struggles and my successes. Thank you SO much for following along on my journey, it truly means the world to me.
