Hi Group, In I Nephi 2:1-4, the Lord spoke to Lehi and called him blessed. He was commanded in a dream to leave Jerusalem, for safety. Obedient, Lehi packed up his family and provisions and left. In V5-8, they traveled across desert wilderness, (approx. 180 miles), near the Red Sea, where Lehi, in gratitude, built an alter and offered sacrifice to God. In V9-10, Lehi used beautiful Semitic parallelism, to teach his rebellious sons about God's high expectations for them. He compared Laman to the River Laman, and hoped he would be "like unto this river, continually running into the fountain of all righteousness." Lemuel, he hoped, would be "like unto this valley, firm and steadfast, and immovable in keeping the commandments of the Lord!" In V11-15, Laman and Lemuel murmured because their father was a "visionary man" who made them leave their home and wealth, and they did not believe Jerusalem would be destroyed. "They knew not the dealings of that God who had created them." (V12). Lehi reprimand them with the power of God and they shook. In V16-24, Nephi prayed to understand the mysteries of God's will. Through the Holy Ghost, the Lord spoke to Nephi and softened his heart, and he believed the words of his father Lehi. He learned that he would one day be made leader over his rebel brothers. Application today? Is it possible to follow the Lord and His prophets, unequivocally, without murmuring? It really boils down to our faith, obedience to God's commandments and our ability to replace pride with humility. Ponder how the Lord blessed Nephi for his faith, diligence and humility, (V19), and counseled him, "inasmuch as ye shall keep my commandments, ye shall prosper, and shall be led to a land of promise..." (V20). Like Nephi, if we are faithful to God; humble and teachable, we will not be prone to murmur or wander. If we are obedient to God’s laws and follow His living prophets, our "land of promise" will be eternal life. With love, Dawna
“And after having received the record of the Nephites, yea, even my servant Joseph Smith, Jun., might have power to translate through the mercy of God, by the power of God, the Book of Mormon.
30 And also those to whom these commandments were given, might have power to lay the foundation of this church, and to bring it forth out of obscurity and out of darkness, the only true and living church upon the face of the whole earth, with which I, the Lord, am well pleased, speaking unto the church collectively and not individually--“ - Doctrine and Covenants 2:29-30 #scripture #scriptures #scripturesunday #Bible #HolyBible #BookOfMormon #TheBookOfMormon #Mormon #LDS #missionary #ldsmissionary #missionaries #ldsmissionaries #TheChurchOfJesusChristOfLatterDaySaints #Jesus #Christ #JesusChrist #preach #gospel #minister #DoctrineAndCovenants #Christian #Catholic #minister #Protestant #Baptist #reformedtheology #theology #Mormonism

The start of this year I could feel the excitement of change and progression in the church. There is so much happening and hastening and it is just so exciting! I can feel it in our classes and when I’m reading the scriptures. I can feel it when I see maps like this showing all the temples in the world and so many more are being built! I’m so grateful I get to be a part of Christ’s church and help spread the gospel to the world at this time! #lds #ldstemples #ldsmissionary #bookofmormon
“And it came to pass that the Lord spake unto me, saying: Blessed art thou, Nephi, because of thy faith, for thou hast sought me diligently, with lowliness of heart. And inasmuch as ye shall keep my commandments, ye shall prosper, and shall be led to a land of promise; yea, even a land which I have prepared for you; yea, a land which is choice above all other lands.” - 1 Nephi 2:19-20, The Book of Mormon #scripture #scriptures #scripturesunday #Bible #HolyBible #BookOfMormon #TheBookOfMormon #Mormon #LDS #missionary #ldsmissionary #missionaries #ldsmissionaries #TheChurchOfJesusChristOfLatterDaySaints #Jesus #Christ #JesusChrist #preach #gospel #minister #religion #Christian #Catholic #minister #Protestant #Baptist #reformedtheology #theology #Mormonism

“The origins of the word history come from a combination of two words: ‘His’ and ‘Story’. History is not just a series of dates and events. Rather, history is the story of God working through people. The history of civilization is built around one focal point --the advent of the Savior of the world. Therefore we should make a conscientious effort to study History and social science with an eye to discover God’s timing, God’s provision, God’s purpose, God’s planning, and God’s truth. When History and social science are taught with a focus on God, we can see that history truly is His Story.
Since the creation of the first man Adam, and throughout the history of mankind, there has never been a greater and more righteous person than Jesus Christ that ever lived, in example of humility, service, love, and compassion, sacrifice and in dignity, wisdom, majesty, authority and power.
There is no other person in history who can claim that his coming was the fulfillment of numerous prophecies written hundreds and even thousands of years before His appearance. Jesus stands alone. Between Jesus Christ and every other person there is no possible term of comparison.
Modern civilization marks his birth by dividing time B.C. (before Christ) and A.D. stands for the Latin term "anno Domini" which means "year of the Lord.” In other words B.C. ended and A.D. began with the arrival of Christ. The entire Bible is about Jesus. The Old Testament says, “Behold, He comes.” The Gospels say, “Behold, He dies.” Acts says, “Behold, He lives!” The Epistles say, “Behold, He saves.” Revelation says, “Behold, He reigns.” That's Jesus!
In this world, many people have come and gone! Whether they be rich or poor, strong or weak, famous or ordinary, everyone will eventually die! But Jesus, who was raised from the dead, is alive and lives forevermore. Jesus said “I am He that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death..” (Revelation 1:18) There is not any other single fact in the history of man more profound than that fact.”

I love knowing that all the people that have passed on that I miss are cheering me on!
This guy made me cry today. Tavin, you have been such a huge example to me. I remember when I first met you and the first impression I had was, "Man this boy is a child." 😂 in the best way though. You are so caring of people around you and you have always spread your light and joy.
The Lord is with you; I know you will be a huge blessing to the people of Peru. You've been a huge blessing to me.
Go kick butt! See you in two 🤟
I did not grow up with guns or shooting. A few years ago I never imagined it would become something I’ve invested so much into. A huge factor to why I’ve become so invested in the 2nd amendment was the two years I spent as a missionary in Cambodia. I learned to value human life in a new way, I became less naive about how cruel people can be, I saw people live on next to nothing, and I learned the importance of being resourceful, adaptable, and prepared. I also learned how good we have it here in America. There are somethings you can only learn when you are living a life that puts others before yourself and live for a cause bigger than yourself. Theology debates aside, my time as a missionary taught me that. I hope that every armed individual takes the time to reflect on their “why I carry” and I hope your why influences you to do more than just tuck a gun in your pants. I’m willing to bet that what kind of person you are is more important than who did your stippling. I will be the first to say I am not a people person, but I know that the worth of souls is great and that life is worth protecting. #whyicarry #armedcitizen #2a #ldsmissionary #latterdaysaints #lds #khmerleadslinger #glock #edc #concealedcarry

- Quentin L. Cook
