Part 1/3 : The Plan
In late January (2018), we talked about getting married a lot. It was apparent that we wanted to spend forever together, and neither of us saw a point in waiting. Shortly after she purchased my ring and popped the question. I said yes of course, and went into full wedding planning mode. As we decided on the venue, colours, flowers, and more, I realized that it had been 10 months since her proposal and maybe it was time I execute mine.
I had no idea what I was going to say, or how I was going to do it. I tried to think of something but all my ideas were scrapped. It was 3 am on a night I couldn’t sleep where my plan developed.
All it took was 31 balloons, 18 cups of rose petals, and the cutest pictures of us that I could find.
I’ve always been more of a writer than a speaker, so I opted to write my “proposal speech” on the back of the photos and have her read it rather than me struggle to find the words.
I rented a cute little cabin on AirB&B (best app ever by the way!), enlisted the help of one of my best friends who happens to be a professional photographer, and waited until last minute (something I always do) to pull everything together.
I told her that we were taking engagement photos, which wasn’t a lie, and tried to keep the rest hidden. This failed, because we aren’t able to keep anything from each other. Nonetheless, she didn’t know where, when, or how I would be doing it. All she knew was that it would finally be happening.
