Letting go can sometimes be the most difficult thing to do. Especially, if like me, you need to constantly be in control. Letting go can feel like losing control, but that is a false delusion.
Why hold on to and carry the things that no longer serve a purpose in your life?
It gets heavy and weighs you down without reason.
What are some of the things we hold on to that we don't need to?
Old pain? Regret? Worry?
Lost dreams? Broken heart?
It took me a long time to realise that everything is temporary. That holding on hurts more than letting go. Once I learned, that everything is only kept alive by the stories we attach to it, I slowly started to unpack and let go of all that old hurt, pain, worry, lost dreams, regrets, and finally....finally....anger. Anger was the hardest...because anger is the best mask. Anger usually hides all the real emotions that you have not processed yet. But once you learn to name them when they come up, anger recedes until eventually it fades.
It's a great metamorphosis to undergo, but there is no preparation or guidebook, so it looks different for everyone. The key is to be present in the now. Take the lessons from the past because it has gone, don't worry about the future as you don't know that you will meet it, and just be here now.
Be present. Be open. Be mindful/attentive. Be intuitive. Be where you are. Do what you must in this moment...because that is all you have. No one is promised the next moment.
