Hooooray - Traffic Bath fun is back in stock! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Add it to their stocking, or simply buy it because it's great all year round! This doesn't have to be a Christmas gift.....because it is a sanity saver all year round. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Kids happy to head to the bath? Really? Yes - we have heard it over and over - and we have seen it for ourselves with Lucas. This is one of the best bath toys that we know of for car lovers. They make the road, they have heaps of vehicles to drive on it. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Buy it as a belated gift to yourself - because everyone needs help at bath time. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Sometimes when you're enjoying outdoor play you want to go down the slide, and sometimes you want to play with the parachute, and sometimes you want to dig in the sandbox. Other times you're perfectly content to find some quiet time by yourself to explore the assortment of twigs and leaves on the ground. #organicpreschool #emergentcurriculum #letthemplay #outdoorplay
Change is hard, and it’s a particular challenge for my gal. So when it was time to go to nature school on a new day (of her choosing), her anxiety showed up in a big way 😰😰 So I reminded her that some part of her heart knew she was ready for this, even though it was scary. And then we repeated a few affirmations like I am brave 🌱 I can do hard things 🌱 I have the courage to face my fears 🌱
Anxiety is a beast. And you definitely can’t slay it in one day. But I think we took one major step forward today 🙏✌️💜

🎄 PLAYDATE 🎄
A morning with friends. Our beautiful friend @lisezeld
invited us around for a play this morning along with some other parents and children from our Mainly music class.
They had a disco set up, toys galore and so much grass that inspired the children to run forever and ever!
Another hit was the trampoline and ‘picking as many raspberries as you want’.
Thankyou so much for the play, we haven’t stopped talking about it since we’ve arrived home.
This little guy was measured for his cranial brace yesterday.
He was such a good little curmudgeon during the entire thing! We will be going back next week for his fitting and if all goes well, that should be his Day 1.
Drop me some emojis and show me how you think we should decorate it!
How absolutely beautiful is this flower tea party 🍃🌼👌💖 ⠀
I spy our spoons & scoops looking very at home.

When I set out an invitation to play for my kindergarten students, I almost always set out little people or characters. It encourages oral language like nothing else. 🗣💬Even some of my quietest students who are reluctant to speak can sometimes be heard creating imaginative dialogue with these - even when playing on their own. The small baby peg dolls pictured here are made of wood, stained with non-toxic water based paints, and sealed with a natural beeswax finish. Their wood-burned smiles will never wear off. 😊This set of 6 peg babies comes in a little bag for imaginative play on the go. ✨Link in bio.
As crazy as the season is, the look of wonder on my 3 year old's face is enough to make up for all of it. He is so amazed by everything right now and so curious. This is the first year he really 'gets' what's going on and it's totally changing how I feel about the holiday craziness. He doesn’t care that the house isn’t ready, the grocery shopping isn’t done, and the gifts aren’t wrapped yet. He’s just so excited to experience it all. As a result, I find that I’m not caring about all that stuff quite so much. I want it to be amazing for him...but I’m starting to realize it’s going to be amazing even if the floors aren’t washed and the buns for Christmas dinner aren’t homemade. I’m lowering my standards.
How has having kids (or working with kids) changed your outlook on the holiday season?
Out of all the things I have achieved, he is by far the best.
This has been such a struggle for us this year. The first few months of school many of my learners had no idea how to build or create using blocks and other toys. Lack of exposure to these types of materials was evident. I made it a huge play focus, and have been really pushing my friends to stick with a center and MAKE something! A week ago, I introduced a handmade flip book called “What Can I Build?” with over 40 ideas. This was a game changer. They LOVE it! They are learning to stick with an idea and create. They are collaborating and inventing! They are growing so much! #preschool #blocks #STEM #prek #preschoolteacher #play #playmatters #building #letthemplay #creativecurriculum

Why wouldn’t you give a child the opportunity to stand up in their classroom?🤔 Every single classroom in the world should have standing desks available for their students. 🤯
The classroom must evolve and change, it’s been the same ole story for too long. 🤷🏻♂️ Time to innovate and let these kids stand up! #StandUpOurKids
🌱 FAQ 🌱 What's wrong with button-pressing toys with flashing lights and music? Well, there is no right or wrong. Only if it's for your child's highest good. .
When your child's only work is to press buttons, she doesn't need to use her brain very much (if at all!). We all know how it feels to mindlessly do things. It gets boring pretty quickly. Human minds get wired through repetition, so the more she presses buttons mindlessly, the more she's used to not using her creativity and imagination. And when she doesn't use these skills, they get rusty. It'll take more time and effort to get into a creative, imaginative state of mind. .
Now regarding the flashing light and music, I don't know about you, but I find them very annoying! If adults find them annoying, imagine how a child feels (remember children are much more sensitive than we are!). Also, these lights and music are highly stimulating. Not only do they make it harder for the child to focus (have you tried working with lights flashing in your face?), they also train her to expect high levels of external simulations. "When the threshold for excitement is so high, the ability and desire to concentrate on nuanced and subtle aspects of life become uninteresting and in the words of my two daughters, 'annoying.'," wrote Fran Laska, psychotherapist.
So in my honest opinion, button-pressing toys are not for any child's highest good. They stunt a child's brain and make it challenging for her to learn, think, focus, and enjoy the simple things in life. .
What's your stance on button-pressing toys? I would love to hear!
The Grimm’s telephone is a favourite in our home. Noah rings the bell, picks up the receiver, and goes “hello, ya..ya..ya. See you! Bye!” Not too sure who speaks like this but he’s picking it up real quick 😂 Preorders for Grimm’s closes 31 Dec 2018 so hurry place your orders and enjoy 10% off too 🎉 #tagnoahs
“And what about your mind? | Does it shine? | Are there things that concern you, more than your time?” (Jack Johnson)
Why do we even bother losing track of keeping it simple and making it memorable?
Sometimes when you're juggling life...you have to let go of control. .
This is hard for me and I'm still learning how to be “ok” with letting go. If you ask my son Easton he'd say "mama doesn't like messes".
Today I let go and am ok with it! Between my clients, calls, getting the house ready for guests this weekend and watching these two stinkers I had to throw in the towel somewhere.
I decided that we would stay home today, make a HUGE mess in the yard, use chalk (and not control where it went), play with any toy they wanted to in the sand (and not clean them immediately) and be present to soak it all in.
The boys had a blast and so did I....surprise surprise! Before naps today we even made a “reading cave” to enjoy books before bed....and I left it up!!
Life isn’t perfect and neither am I. It’s ok to let go of control and just enjoy these moments/messes while they last.

We went to see daddy at work today and then went back to the beach! It was high tide so we couldn’t look for treasures like we did last time but we enjoyed exploring the sand on this huge piece of driftwood! Yes, he decided to taste the sand. 😝 we enjoyed watching the waves and laughing at the dog as he searched for treasures. When we were done, we watched planes land and A played with my empty espresso cup and some of the tools daddy left in the car!

Today has been a lazy Tuesday. No work, lots of rest and sniffles. As much as I hate being sick, nothing beats a good day of rest and relaxation. How your day is going well! 😘
🎅🏼 S A N T A 🎅🏼
You know it’s ‘the most wonderful time of the year’ when you get to visit the big man in the red suit.
On Saturday we made our yearly visit to @marldon_christmas_tree
farm so the girls could tell Santa what’s on their list for this year. While we were there the girls threw us a few curve balls as they decided to add new things to their list ‘because I’ve just thought of it’ 🙈🙉😂 I’ve just come across the fab #xmashashtagchallenge
which is being run by @littlepaperswan
& I am really looking forward to seeing what everyone is posting. What I’ve seen so far are some gorgeous festive pics.
Have you been to see Santa this year yet?
Didn’t win yesterday’s giveaway? Don’t sweat it! We’ve got our softgoods bundles up for grabs with rush shipping available!

I’m excited for our family to do plenty of moodling during the holidays! What about you? 🎄🌟
